There have been a lot of posts regarding the ability to stream blue tooth audio on 458s. Many of us have installed the Bovee 1000 device. It plugs into 458s i-pod connection cord (for those who had that option). However, most of us who have installed this device were running into an annoyance. Each time we wanted to use our smart phones to stream music, we had to turn off the blue tooth function on the phone, and then turn it back on after the stereo system was up an running to get the music to stream. Kind of a pain in the butt.

Well, I finally upgraded my i-phone 8 to a 12. I have discovered that I no longer have to turn blue tooth off and on again to get the streaming to work. It sinks right up like it was supposed to right away.

Thought I would pass this along. Not sure if all i-phone models in between will fix the issue or not.

The Bovee is really popular in the Jaguar community. I have it on my 2007 XK and it’s pretty solid.

    glad it’s working out!

Do you know which version of iOS you had on your 8 and 12?

I had a slightly similar experience updating to the latest Android phone. I switched back to the Bovee and it worked great. For three days. Then the Bovee reverted to its previous behavior and I had to connect/disconnect bluetooth or the physical cable about every third use. I'm back to the hard drive and a 2005 iPod Nano. It will be interesting if yours continues to work over a sustained period of time.

    Best of luck,

    Rob

I have an iPhone 12 Max Pro and the Bovee in my 2015 458. I still have the connectivity issue when first getting in the car. Maybe there’s an OS update coming that will get me to where you are.

Shh, dont tell the 488 crowd! LOL

My Bovee was very temperamental, sometimes working for weeks, and then nothing. Better than not having it though.

I’m running iOS 15 Beta on the xs max and have to physically disconnect pretty much every time I get in.

My issue is that the car typically doesn’t recognize the Bovee. The iPod word flashes and the controls cannot access that input.
Phone connecting to Bovee hasn’t been an issue.
The Bluetooth cigarette plug adapter works but the high frequency roll off is pretty bad even with the aftermarket upgrade I did.

Im working on a direct Bluetooth adapter direct to the aftermarket amplifier which will bypass the factory radio completely making your phone the source for all content including volume.

Well, maybe I was premature. I got all excited that the first 3-4 times I drove with the new phone, it works. But, over the past few days it has been spotty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it recognizes the phone but won't stream music unless I off/on the blue tooth. Oh well.

To answer an earlier question, my i-phone 12 is operating under software version 14.6. Not sure what my 8 was operating under.

The Bovee is tempermental at best. Or in my case my car is tempermental. I don't know exactly how most of yours fail but in my car the car doesn't "see" the Bovee. I can't select iPod from the list of media options. Though my phone will happily connect to the Bovee and silently play music.

I've found an FM transmitter works more consistently, though you have to deal with loud static every time you turn off the car.

Temperamental for sure - as others have mentioned, generally I've found the most consistent way to get it to work is to disconnect the Bovee bluetooth specifically (but not shutting off bluetooth altogether), and then connecting it. After waiting for my phone to say it's connected, I use the behind the steering wheel button to change audio input to ipod, and it's usually there. I like to keep my right screen on speedo most of the time, so easier to use steering wheel button vs. navigating menus to select ipod

I also found that if you are able to get the ipod input selected, if you then change out of ipod, it will no longer recognize / give you that option, and you have to restart the Bovee connection process again

It's a bit of a hassle that I don't bother connecting on shorter drives in areas I know. Otherwise for longer trips, combined with my wireless charging phone mount (this one in case anyone is interested) that hangs down from the windshield and positioned perfectly between my left airvent and left screen, it's nice to have essentially modern android auto in my car
