Cannon Beach!?!?!? My mom ran a hosptial in Portland, and when I told her what car I was building, she sent me a photo of a car that might actually be yours from one of her road trips. I'll scan it if I can find it.
I should correct my first post. When it comes to running this car, my intention is to remain as period correct to the era as possible, save the safety equipment. I will run the car in whatever vintage classification I can, wherever I can. This may conflict with my original intentions, but we shall see. Fun is fun at any price and anyplace I can get it. The 1974-75 car was running a Mikuni carb'd set up and 2 massive KKK turbos putting out close to 750bhp @ 8700rpm, I am not this ambitious, yet I don't know of a better way to go than behind the wheel at an early age.
I love this project, although, I must admit I am not into the wide body look. Good luck, I hope it goes well.
Your welcome to jump in and contribute.... How about we put *******.com sticker on the car for ya....
Wow, nice project. As an owner of an Active Autowerke e36 m3, I'm especially interested in an old bmw project such as this. I would kill for one of the old 3.0csl's - the first true M car. Good luck, Austin
That sounds like a great project. Ihave a 3.0 csi with a 3.5 build and 5sp and love the car. Very fun driver, great glass and space and classic good looks. Keep up the posts.
I am making friends on Bimmerforums.com to build this badboy out. The 3.5L is very very tempting, and easy to get parts for, while the 3.0 or 3.2 will require custom fabrications and a lot more money that I originally wanted to invest in it realizing that I will probably kill it. Either way, the power to the pavement will be 400+ meaning 500 or so at the crank.
You're thinking you'll have a 20% loss of power just going through the drivetrain?? Seems like a lot...
WOW I'm so envious!!! I too have a CS which I finished restoring in Febuary 2006. I would have loved to build a group 5 replica but there's no way I could afford the body kit let alone the wheels and tyres. Here's a few pics of the finished article.
Hello; This is my first post on the forum. I am very interested by this project as i finished mine a year & half now and i try to upgrade it as my monney allow it. Hope i won't polluate the original thread it is just the pleasure to share our passion and exchange some info. Place to the pics: The starting point The result 4 years after a hard job:
Learned to drive in a 2800CS (a classic even then) and have had a soft spot for the Bat Mobile ever since. Whats the story on fenders and other body/suspension mods? Does an aftermarket vintage race parts supplier manufacture the peices or is it a matter of custom fab? Obviously this is a major undertaking but I can not help but to be a little curious. Thanks.
fred...you simply cannot come here and post one picture of that sexy machine... welcome and please post more shots of your car!!!!! best, pcb
The "inprogress car with the dog?? Is that out of coupekings shop??Or a friend of yours?I'd like to see the rear suspension setup,it looks like they moved the shock pickups inward??Any info
