I've always wanted an expensive 4-door hatchback. Time to trade in the Corolla...

I love BMW more than I love Ferrari (you may call it blasphemy), but this car is so wrong. This and X6, I don't get them. Or X5M or X6M. This car is as pointless as the four door Audi A5.

They are doing a lot of things correct these days but every now and then they launch something un-understandable.

You should check one out on the road in person. I saw one last month on the road and, after months of making fun of it, I was shocked at how much I liked it. I still would never buy one (and I'd be shocked if ANYONE will) but, after seeing it, I've come around.

Here's a (dark) shot of the one I saw back in December. But still - I don't think photos quite do it justice.

Said it before, will say it again (and again, and again...) - never judge a BMW until you've seen it in person.

I've seen it. Sorry, but unfortunately it didn't help much this time: this car is not very pretty - to put it diplomatically.

Very true. From the rear 1/4 angle though, it's just not pretty. Your picture is much better, but still not liking it. I will hold complete judgement until I see it in person.

That's pretty factual. A lot of people thought the e92 was ugly until they saw it in person.

Ugly, but we drove it to try out new F10 chassis of new 5 series. Great chassis. Wouldn't buy it as it is ugly. Frameless door glass, but it is quieter than 750Li we tried same day. I was surprised. Turbo lag minor, but can tell. New 5er will be great car. M5 should be epic.

Not as ugly and expensive as Panamera. I know the Panamera is in a different class(competing with the 7 and S class). But if you look at the numbers, the 5 series Gt is a better buy.

this is the double bagger whereas the p is a single bagger !

i dont understand why people compare the p vs the 7 & S. the latter 2 have way more room in the back.

They compare them because they're similar on price point and general sizing. Very few people buy these cars due to their rear seat room - if they did, the Audi A8L would be unbelievably more popular. It's all about panache, prestige, driving characteristics... that's why the Panamera is a competitor.

Looking at the original photo, I noticed that's the Milwauke Art Museum in the background.
