    Agreed.
Also agreed. Get one just off lease and save a bit and soften the impact.

I've spent considerable seat time in a few of these.

Pro's: It drives well and is a true GT car. Brakes are quite good for a car so heavy but require regular replacement. Pleasant engine note which opens up well under hard acceleration. Upgraded stereo is pretty nice and you really can't go wrong with any of the transmissions offered.

Cons: The back seats are horrible for most any adult passenger. I-drive still sucks, but you may get used to it. Red interior looks like total bunk unless you have white exterior with it, otherwise it's just goofy.

The value on these cars blows, plain and simple, actually owning one is akin to financial armageddon. Cheat the depreciation by negotiating a really good price AND a low money factor (check bimmerfest for published rates, don't accept anything over those!), lease an '05. Every $1000 you shave off MSRP will save you about $30 per-month. Drive the snot out of it and turn it in at lease end, the residuals are HEAVILY subsidised on this model!

Oh wait, you mean a new one? They're crap*

*by crap I mean a nice motor, great chassis, but so fluster-clucked it will drive you mad in 1 year of ownership. Maintinence nightmare like any current car. And the older one looks better.

A local owned one in my town, he said he traded it in for a 530. His exact words were, That things was a POS. He said it had alot of problems such as the height control didn't work right and the car kept going up and down. That was just his first hand take on the car. I think it looks different and pritty good but it needs V12 power.

the one I drove I found to be spot on as far as chassis and everythign mechanical, the I Drive, well we have already discussed. Trunk is big but it does protrude like J-Lo at Hagen Das. ELECTRONIC Gimmickry might disuuade you but depends on what that resale dropped to...

OMG. Suck ugly. Looks like another Bubble Car from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Gimme an old M5 anyday - '87-'88 variety. Ultimate Stealth Car. Hell, gimme back my old '88 750il - "Team Limo."

The new M6 is going to be wicked. Same engine as the M5 but it's 275 LBs lighter and has a 2.5 inch lower center of gravity. ANd the M5 ran a 7:56, the same time as the Stradale.

I think that the M6 is not such a smart buy - similar in pricing and performance to M5 and of course, same engine...I love the 20 rims on the new M6 though, I would take the M5 over it any day

I am very turned away against the new 6 series. I was house-shopping and while looking through the real-estate section for Laguna Beach. There was a picture of a burned down 5+ million dollar house with the outline body of a 6-series in the garage.

The reason for this house completely burning down was because of an electrical wiring fire in the engine compartment. They had bought the car new and it had no more than 300 miles on it.

I know any two cars aren't the same, but since reading that I won't take a chance. You've been warned...

I just looked at one yesterday. I liked it. How much depreciation do you think they have in the first couple of years? MSRP with options was $84000.

JSL, it won't be any better then my last gen 7 series.

Think of this: My 1998 750iL MSRPed at 96k. I bought it in 2000 for 46k. Today in 2005 it is worth 15k-20k, if I sell/trade it, not that I would want to.

    Another example:

I was offered a 2003 760Li last year (2004) for 90k (clean black/tan with 4k miles). The sticker on that car was in the 120k range.

Couldn't get over the "ugly as sin" the car looked though.

Thanks: I can always look at post tax costs of operation and it helps depreciation quite a bit. However, I just heard that later this year they are going to relabel the 645ci to a 650c and up the power to 365HP making it much better performing. I think I will wait to see what transpires.
