An E34 M5 is on my "Bucket List". Only 50K miles is just incredible (I like to say barely broken in) for a '91 model. Can you share some interior and engine bay pics?
Engine Bay, fully detailed right after I bought it on Sept 2012. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interior. The previous owner changed the steering wheel with grey suede inserts, suede door cards, different gear shifter. Nicely done, so I will keep it that way. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is my secret love of my life. Best overall road car I have even driven, but who knows maybe I am biased. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I only have ever driven my E36 328i coupe with manual. If similarly equipped, with an inline 6 and manual transmission, How does the E90 driving experience differ from the E36?
I was in the market for my first Ferrari when this E92 M3 came up for sale. I had always promised the wife a new car when she finished school so I ended up getting her this since we can both enjoy it. The Ferrari will have to wait for a while now but I love this car. Melbourne Red with a six speed. It has a sunroof so no CF roof on this one. Just recently put a k&n air filter and the front cf splitters. More exterior carbon fiber pieces to come in the future. Why? It's so dusty there that that seems to not be a great idea... more air and particulates into the engine... not just my opinion. Not a fan of K&N. At all.
The oem filter needed to be replaced. It was very dirty. The car isn't driven on windy or rainy days anyways so it shouldn't be bad. I read nothing but positive reviews on m3post before I bought one.
Come on now....... Of course it is. I weighted it at 2950 all fluids, half tank of gas. Its dropped a few more lbs since that time...... Visually you really have to look close to tell its tuned at all. Rogue Engineering helped me message the engine and tranny a bit. Everything done is Bolt-on and all original parts are with me. Has 13K miles now. It smells and looks like new. Although it doesn't have ITB's like an E46, it sounds JUST as good......... Its just as fast too, I made sure. This is why its the best (BMW), road car I have ever driven. It is a back road murderer.
I think I asked this question before but I do stutter so.....are there any Houston owners here of an E34 M5?
I'm a big fan of the E36 M3 myself....what else is done to the motor? It's just as fast as an E46 M3?
Wonderful cars. The funny thing is that when they were new, they languished on dealer lots because they lacked the amenities of the standard E36s. Now they're the most collectible E36 M3. Total production was what? 125 cars? I used to have an E36 M3 that I tracked fairly regularly. My track wheels were a full set of '95 LTW 8.5" wheels (two sets of rears). Those wheels are probably worth more than the whole car today. D'oh!
The list is on Rogues website, but its got a shrick cam, larger injectors, powerpullys, chip, Euro Air Mass sensor, cold air intake, supersprint headers, euro cats that are .5 inch wider and without the 2nd cats, then a cat-back supersprint. Its not loud at idle just burbles alot. It has the most insane induction noise, much greater than a E46. Rev limiter up to 7200 RPM. Suspension is basically stock sands some bushings. We changed out the engine and tranny mounts to get it stiffer. LLTW clutch flywheel setup with the octane short shift. Then some stainless brake lines, floating front rotors from the euro M3 and some padgid pads. Maybe I am missing some but thats the bulk of it. It is so well done it feel totally factory. Only 125 built supposedly, some say less. It is so focused, and so balanced it really is special. Oh and it has all go fast parts on it that came from the factory with all ltws. Dual drip oil pan, large wing, ect.
I know. And if they made a focused M3 today with the same things and called it a LTW, there would be a waiting list and the price would be 20% higher........
Wow! I deeply envy you, that car must be an absolute riot to drive on sunny weekends. Please share more pics!
+1 Not a fan of K&N. Bad filtering on my E34M5 from the previous owner. Had to change $1000 MAF sensor because of that. Switching back to regular air filter.
