Bob V or Leigh D is the question........

I'm a Bob Varsha fan. we just had him at our Relay party this past Wed... check out the pictures in the SE thread ... he's a great guy, and everyone loved hearing him in person. we got a lot of the back story on the NBC & Speed etc...

 

Well the good part is they STILL fit and they are broken in , can you say the same??

I missed last week' Australia NBC broadcast and watching the Malaysia prerace afternoon replay right now...

Surprised to see Varsha behind the desk, is this a new development?

 

After watching today, how ANYONE could prefer Varsha to Leigh is beyond me.

A couple gems: Varsha letting us know about the KERS graphic and informing us about the WCC....

 

We need Bob..........

 

Oh no, don't say that: I was mesmerized by his explanations of KERS. I had no idea. And I was so thankful that he also explained DRS or whatever it is called.

It's unbelievable what the man knows. He is a fountain of data. How does he know all these things?

I only wish he'd gone into more details about those funny colors on the sides of the tires. Some are yellow and some are green. I wonder what that means?

I started watching F1 back when ESPN carried the races with Varsha and Hobbs announcing so they just seem "right" to me as the US broadcast team.

 

Varsha was better dressed for NBC than for SPEED.

 

I noticed all 3 announcers are decked out in business suits now. NBC order I suppose.

I think Bob does a great job. Not perfect by any stretch, but he fits nicely will Hobbsie and Matchett. I met Varsha at the Mitty historic race in Atlanta a few years ago and he's a very nice, unpretentious bloke.

If I could have my choice, I'd probably choose Murray and Hunt, but that's not possible, so I'm fine with the present setup. I was NOT ok with the absolutely horrific subs Fox used several years ago before bring the Speed team over. I can only assume those hacks usually announced truck and tractor pulls.

 

Well given the new set they now have to wear pants.
