Does someone can tell if Bob is still alive ? There is a rumour... I heard he was seriously sick/ill... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have it on pretty good authority that he's too ornery for that. Alive and kicking at the present time.
Are you that sure at 100% ? Paolo Stanzani told me that last 16th November... as they continue to be in touch monthly...
I spoke today with one of the guys at GT Car Parts in Phoenix. As far as he knew Bob was still around.
I haven't spoken to Bob in about 10 years. To avoid speculation, anyone who seriously wishes to know how he is doing can easily contact him: Bob Wallace Cars Inc 2302 E Magnolia Street Phoenix, AZ 85034-6815 Phone: (602) 275-2543
I am also under the impression that while his health has been failing for years, he's still kicking. Good for him. He did a fair bit of work on our race transmissions. However, his "inventory" and shop have been pre-sold, from what we understand. CW
Well, don't get excited about a photo, he'll do it but he's not into that. Health, 2 packs of smokes a day will get him eventually.
Hi Folks, is there another phone number to contact Bob Wallace ? I've tried this one many times without answer, leaving messages without return... => (602) 275-2543 any help is welcome... I should meet him by next monday 16th May but I'm expecting a confirmation before booking my flight from Europe !!! Thanks in advance. Olivier - LCB
Oliver, Bob doesn't answer the phone and is grumpy every other day (he's softening in his old age as it used to be every day). Seriously, he's a great guy to talk to but he warms up slowly to strangers. Don't bother trying to call - just be there Monday - Thursday between 8:30 and 10AM. Once he knows you own(ed) a Lambo, he'll most likely warm up to you. That's what happened to me when I met him 2 years ago this month. Good luck. (Let us know how it went on the VLG site as well.
I've spoken to him, appointment is fixed and I'm very excited to meet the last "geant" missing in my list from that era !!!
cool... he's a great down to earth guy. we spent some time years ago discussing the build of the urraco rallye.
Oliver, He warmed up quickly when I knew something about his fondness for the 350/400 GT, so you have that front covered. Also the saga of driving the prototype LP500 thru border crossings was worth his time to talk about. Mr. Wallace and SMS last spring in Az. (My boss is a good customer of his, thus the trip to pick up some parts) Good luck and have fun! P.S., he said he lost alot of personal data and photos to a guy who was proposing to write a book, then dissapeared. Probably part of why he come across cold to many who try to gain access to him. Would Wallace attend a Countach private reunion? With around 50 Countachs attending. He would reunite with Balboni.
+1 That would rock. I'd be curious to know if with all the visit's Valentino has made to the USA over the last couple years, if he has ever ventured over to Bob's shop? Anyone know when the last time was they saw each other? Mike
All recorded in the "box"... a very nice interview !!! Bob Wallace has not met Valentino for many years, they don't seem to be so close friends as we could have imagine...
