    I have an '81 GTSi and this winter I plan to cut out the rust and weld in repair sheet metal.

    Can anyone recommend what repair sheet metal I should use?

    I just used some steel sheet I already had.

    I can't remember if it was 18 or 20 gauge but I'll check. It's definite thin so you have to really watch out for warping.

    Cut out you rust then check the gauge and match that with some metal. You'll be golden nothing special about the metal.
