Just bought my son a new VW GTI, he's graduating USC law this spring and it's his first year needing a car that he's now living in MDR. Found a great apartment in MDR with some friends but the parking space assigned was less than desirable, so LA like. I'm finding him to be a great driver but then he "touched" the wall getting into his spot.

It's probably not going to make sense to make a claim so I'd like to get it fixed and painted properly, given it's probably got a 1000 miles on it. Rear passenger side door. Picture included. Ideas on good shops westside LA to downtown? What's the proper way to fix this kind of damage, can they reskin the door with newer cars? I'm assuming a brand new door is very expensive and not looking to spend thousands. Sure would like it as good as new if reasonable..... Image Unavailable, Please Login

Jeff, any body shop will need it for about a week because of the painting process. So i dont think you need to limit yourself to West LA. I can absolutely recommend a body shop in Costa Mesa. So that is about a 45 minute drive from MDR but since you have to leave it, not that big of a deal. The shop is:

    Ricky's Paint & Body
    869 W 18th St, Costa Mesa, CA 92627

My wife backed into a stone wall in her 2 month old Porsche. Unfortunately it dented the rear hatch and scratched the bumper. So both the entire hatch and the whole bumper had to be repainted. The total cost was $800 and the job was invisible.

It doesnt get better than that.

Give Gary Kawakami a call at Ultimate Coachworks 10429 Washington Blvd, Culver City 310-559-1462. They are affiliated with Premier who is the major Ferrari repair/repaint place in So. Calif. Ultimate Coachworks installed my Mansory kit on my Bentley as well as did some touch up items on my friend's daughter Porsche SUV. Gary used to be the service manager at Hollywood Sports Cars Ferrari years ago. "Fight On!"
