I would take some of these "whistleblowers" with a grain of salt. I have seen malcontents within Boeing and within the FAA that invent issues for any assortment of personal reasons. I know that Boeing has a history of some engineering groups that know everything there is to know about their one piece of the aircraft but know nothing about areas that are a foot away. I have personally known a Boeing engineer that railed against the Aviation Partners winglets for the 737 claiming it would have no performance gain and would overstress the wing; boy was he proven wrong.

Saw a report yesterday that the current CEO says that the decision of who the new CEO will be has been decided. It is a Boeing insider but no name or from where in the company was given.

I sure hope that they have made a good choice but remain skeptical. And, see no reason why the person should wait until the end of this year to ascend since the current CEO is only an interim position holder.

Whats wrong with getting his keys and ID card and escorting him to the door?

I don't disagree. Maybe Calhoun is being kept around long enough that he can be blamed for all past sins by his replacement. But it should not be one day more than when the decision of who the new person is.

Apparently Calhoun is promoting Stephanie Pope as his choice to be his successor. Yet, as the outgoing (pushed) president his vote is of far less value to the others on the board and especially the interim Chairman.

A failed leader naming his own successor. What could go wrong?

And some actually wonder why American government and industry is cratering.

The board is mostly his cronies too. No surprise they let him pick his replacement. The board needs to go too.

Boards all over America are like that. And its the same small group and many serve on a number of boards at once. Talk about incestuous relationships.
And we wonder why these companies are train wrecks.
You know, kind of like Washington DC.

What I am seeing in some articles (which may or may not be self-serving plants) is that Calhoun is promoting one person but that he may no longer have the support of the board, especially the interim leader (retired Qualcomm), to make his selection be the winner.

IF, which is a massive "if", the board were to be smart they might want to poll the most important airlines and lease companies on who they would have the most faith in. I rather doubt it would be someone that never had any real manufacturing and product development track record.

I do not disagree that there needs to be a lot of reflection by each board member to the extent that they allowed the problems to fester and not be resolved. Where were they when it came to asking the hard questions and utilizing their BS detectors and they were being told stories?

And I bet every single one can rationalize what they did and when they did it. Its a trait required to rise to the top of the scum in board rooms.

Years ago I had a friend well up with Clorox Corp when it hit the fan and as he said. "Brian, you should see it around here, the paper shredders are smokin".
