Put a great big T shirt over the seat.

there is only one way, tried and true.

first - weekly... no wait.. bi-weekly application of leather conditioner. Make sure your seats are regularly covered.
second - you can't be overweight - gotta keep that midsection LEAN... start some cardio if you are overlapping the bolsters. you'll thank me later.
third - prior to any drive, you need a consistent abdominal training regimen. 6 months minimum. focus on your obliques and make sure you do normal crunches. This is why cars from miami and southern california on the used market have EXCELLENT bolster wear - people are in shape there! You should be fine from LA. Not sure about Illinois though - have to check in with SCKOMS and how his t-shirt is working out. "6 pack or bolster crack" as they ALL say.
fourth - make the effort to contort your body so you don't EVER, EVER roll over and touch the bolster. pretend you are one of those guys that can hop up the side of a parking garage... plant your hand below you on the lower sill and cartwheel out. if your head aint near your knees, you need some tee's.

other than that, you should be good.

p.s. I actually appreciate you are so particular as to ask the question - at least I have company.

I always put my hand over the left bolster when getting in and out.
    It's a little easier than cm2's method. ;)

I'll have to try that, I move the seat all the way back and use the hand on door sill and rotate on arse method.

I enter from the passenger side and climb across the center console - not sure it is easier, but very little driver side left side bolster wear... ;) :)

If you have racing seats you can switch the seat back, changes the wear on the bolster dramatically

On the more serious side: I sit into the seat then pivot my feet in. Exit by rotating both feet out then standing up. You can put a hand on the side of the seat to give you a little leverage if you can't do a full squat. It is actually possible to get in and out without touching the edge of the bolster.

Now if I can just get others to do it.

Nate...ill school you in the "in shape" department....I'm 50 and I'm in better shape than my 25 year old son and his buddies who work out on a regular basis....
I am attending an event in which everyone and their brother will want a ride in my car....looking for a solution to help preserve my leather seats such as bolster protectors or Ferrari seat covers
    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

Just do your best to rotate around it and lower yourself in. Restoring the bolster is actually a very easy job should it ever become an eyesore.

Agree no jeans, especially for crema interiors. For bolsters what does the damage is the rivets and studs in the jeans, as well belts, zips etc.

Get yourself a set of Ferrari seat covers. I put them on when I bring my 430 in for service because you know the mechanics will hit that bolster getting into and out of the car every time.

    And no dark jeans!

I can't tell women not to wear tight jeans in my cars. Scratch that. I don't want to.

I highly recommend BMW leather cleaner and a Swissvax brush. Apply with sponge and rub in, agitate with brush, remove with microfiber. Repeat for stubborn stains. It will get almost anything out. Also amazing on steering wheels and shift knobs. Leatherique also has a dye removal product.

If any of your leather even becomes trashed and really bothers you, then leatherique sells full kits to re-dye to factory-new condition. Many amazing before/afters out there. Like all paint/dye work, it is all in prep and patience.

When you say Ferrari seat covers are you referring to the red ones that come with car cover and steering wheel cover?

I find sweat pants to be the friendliest thing that you can wear. Comfortable too.

I find moving the seat way back when getting in and out helps
I am average height though so not sure this works with tall people
