    Has anyone desoldered the chrome plated brass fixtures of BOM. Ashtrays, interior lights that after plating was soldered together...........50+ years ago. I need to repair such a unit and want some insight on disassembly and re soldering. I have looked low melt solder, but I would like comments from individuals who have been first hand successful at this.

    here is an example. I need to unsolder, repair and reassemble , hopefully solder as original.
    The top bezel is complex and soldered to the simple rectangle flanged top ashtray vessel.
