    It's been a looong while, but I recall that the ignition key turned both ways, one to run the engine normally and the other way would make it run backwards, hence as fast (?) in reverse as forwards. If the battery failed, the kickstart was available. Great looking car, I would if I could.........

    I think that might have been a Meshersmitt or something like that.

    Because this has the engine mounted in front of the front wheel you can turn it through almost 90 degree's so there is no need for a reverse gear. In the UK in the 50's and 60's if you didn't have a reverse gear then you could drive on a motorbike liscense. (ie at the age of 16)
