    I know Ian is an avid reader and I've just started re-reading some old non-fictional books lately while travelling and thought it might be nice to start a thread to give people some hints as to GOOD books to read if in the same circumstances.

    Personally I like only reading factual books written by people at the heart of the story so that you get at least one side from their perspective.

    I just finished re-reading Skunkworks by Ben Rich , the former CEO of Skunkworks for Lockheed Martin.

    Some interesting backfill to the Gary Powers saga and an insight into the politics of the time.

    Well worth the read and only takes about 3 days to read if you're a slow reader like me.

    I also re-read Enzo's Memoirs (my Terrible Joys) and don't know what to really make of it ..... is it a man justifying his decisions or is he shrewd and calculating in his statements due to the Italian courts that hammered him for the deaths that occurred in the bad old days of car racing.

    I'd be interested to hear what Ian's been reading of late :)

    I am up to Chapter 17 of this book - still going on about a blue Ferrari
    Chapter 17 but it is a very good book!

    I don't read that much but my favourite would be Stephen Kings Dark Tower series.
    The last couple of books were not as good but the first few got me in. I even bought the talking book version to listen to on the long drives from the Alice back to civilisation. :)

    Can't flick the pages but the talking books do make the long drives go by a lot quicker. :D

    For a great F1 related read: Coventry Climax Racing Engines. Interesting technical analysis of how bright minds worked instead of banks of computers.

    For great thriller fiction I love all the Daniel Silver books with Gabriel Allon as his central character, I've read probably 10 of the series, generally can't put them down once started. Another great one is "I am Pilgrim" by Terry Hayes, its been out a few years, I recently re read it & still loved it & couldn't put it down even the second time around.

    Great fan of Ann Cleeves novels like Shetland and the Vera series .

    Another is Stuart MacBride The Logan series .

    For the last 22 or so years , apart from listening to the football matches in the car ,I have listened to Talking books , one will on the norm last me a month or so these days .

    Any long driving trip , I make sure I have a few to listen too or on holidays always a talking book. is taken along..
