Good to know. But yeah, I want an updated look into the factory. A lot has changed over the last few decades. It's very modern inside now. The closest example I've seen is Ferrari Under the Skin. Not a bad book.

Although the title is quite misleading because it isn't about the racing team at all.

Off Ferrari topic, but how about a definitive book on pre-War Mercedes, including the racing cars, written by someone in native-language English with a pulse (and no dealer angle), in a way that explains them methodically and chronologically to those used to recent books on Ferrari etc? Good period photos reproduced well, chassis info if possible, medium format to read and enjoy. Year by year would work with clear model descriptions - including alternative names - and specs. No auction house or Christmas calendar/chocolate box photos.

That era is interesting but a bit old hat and mumsie now to a younger generation of enthusiasts which is a pity. The old English (endless stories of cars in UK in 50s and 60s) or German (fancy modern colour pics) are not good enough. Melin ones are good info and pics-wise but very expensive now. Words not terribly illuminating. The SSKs at Pebble were fabulous.

Just to name a few: "Racing the Silver Arrows" by Chris Nixon or "Racing With Mercedes Benz" by George Monkhouse. There are biographies of the drivers available too - Caracciola, Rosemeyer and Lang.

Yes, but they don't work for me and don't properly address the history of the road cars such as the Special Roadster in an understandable format. I am a big Chris Nixon fan - DB Astons and Mon Ami Mate - but never got on with his Silver Arrows book. Might be me being slow. Pre-War is a mystery. And all the 1970s/80s bright red cars at Blackhawk not my thing.

Brenda Vernor was supposed to have written a book. One would assume that should include something about Parkes? Beyond that, there is the website linked below that, IIRC, a family member created.

I would like to see the definitive Ferrari 275 GTB book. Kidston & Co. are you listening?

It’s a good idea but I don’t think Kidston’s the one to do it.

Well they knocked it out of the park with the Miura book(decades in the making). I was thinking of something along the lines of Matthias's outstanding Dino Compendium.
