I get it confused with another GIugiaro one off that looks almost the same.
Was it the Boomerang that was a bit down at the heels when found by a Swede or is that another Giugiaro prototype like the P538 based Manta?

The Boomerang was rescued. There are articles all about this in the MIE magazines.
It was in Spain for quite some time I believe.
What a strange car to have in a hot climate.

It was sold to a nightclub owner in a town called Benidorm. I bet it was parked outside
to suck people into the club just like when I first went to West Hollywood a strip club had a pink Rolls Royce ('pre-war) parked outside.
I wonder what he paid for it--has that been printed? I think that was when Ital Design was first starting out and Giugiaro needed the money to make the next concept car. I was surprised he was able to make it road reigsterable, the windshield must have been glass, not plastic. I found articles that says it has been auctioned twice, once in 2002 and the second time in 2005 though it might have been auctioned since then as well. I am a little unclear of the timeline--was this using a Bora chassis? I sort of remember the Bora from around 1971? I know it used a 4.7 liter Maserati V8 but if it had a full Bora chassis, it seems like it would have been able to be road registerable fairly easily. I presume Giugiaro had already designed the production Bora and Merak by the time this came along but don't know if Maserati paid for the Boomerang or that was on Giugiaro's nickel as he was promoting his capabilities at the time.

Keep doing some research you'll find it all. It's a pretty well known car.
Basically a new Giugaro styling exercise on a Bora. Same mechanicals.

The greenhouse was enormous and so it was hot inside. It's been displayed at Monterey many times.

Revel made a model kit of it.

Frank might pop in here since I think he paid to have it flown in for Monterey.
