When stripping down my car it was evident that at some point the boot floor had been severely overheated by the silencer underneath. No air scoop was fitted ( now have one to fit ) As belt and braces I was thinking of making up an alloy heat shield to mount under the new floor giving a 1/2 inch air gap between floor and new shield. I have also replaced the original insulation inside the car with a modern heat proof foam and foil type, two layers foil foam foil foam before fitting the new alloy inner floor. Has anyone else fitted a similar shield or am I going OTT ?

What I did was install peel and stick heat mat,s you can cut to size very easy to install I have no heat at all in the trunk, just lift the carpet and stick it all around and on the floor.

A couple of days ago I found a picture on this forum of a USA car with an additional heat shield mounted directly below the boot floor but now I can't find it again it looked as if it was held up with pop rivets.
