I just picked up a 2005 F430 from DC Motors and couldn't be happier! Specs: Grigio Silverstone / black interior with white stitching, F1, scud shields, CC brakes with red calipers. The car was surprisingly in very good condition; with ~10K miles the clutch was at 28% wear and the brakes were at 25% wear.

I streamlined the process so that the negotiations and PPI were all done before I moved to LA (from New York) last Tuesday and finally pulled the trigger on Wednesday.

The car is an absolute dream. I'd like to thank everyone in the SoCal region, especially Dana ("Barrister"), that helped me over the past few months. I had the PPI done at Fast Cars in Redondo Beach and worked with Craig. He was a stand-up guy and performed a very diligent inspection on the car, both mechanically and aesthetically. Hats off to both DC Motors and Fast Cars.

I now have a couple of issues:

    1. The drive back from Anaheim to West Hollywood on the 5 and the 10 wasn't my idea of a free road. I realize that it's probably tough to find a free strip of asphalt in this city, but I'm sure there are some hidden spots on the outskirts of the city. As I said, I just moved to LA from New York, so I don't know the area very well yet. Please PM me with any recommendations you have as I don't want to have to drive out to the Nevada Desert at 5am on a Saturday to enjoy the car.

    2. How do I gain access to the Ferrari owners' website?

I know, I know....you want pics! I took the car back to the shop today to get the rear tires replaced and a full fluid change done over the weekend. I promise to follow up next week.

    Thanks again,
    Sandman

    Congratulations. Enjoy your new ride!
The members of this forum often have drives that are off the beaten path.
Join FCA (FOC too). They have organized drives and trips.
We do a drive every month on the first Saturday through FCA. We meet in the Pacific Palisades and head North, through various canyons and PCH. Normal drive is two hours, with optional lunch after. Next drive is this Saturday, July 4th.

Congratulations Sandman! Sounds like a beautiful F430. Have yet to see an F430 in Grigio Silverstone. I saw Jason(Speedracer38) post some pictures of a Grigio Silverstone/Black Ferrari F430 Coupe with blacked out tail-lights and a fresh-set of Novitec NF3's. Now thats a hot car! I wish you all the best in not only the new Ferrari F430, but adapting to Southern California and finding some hidden areas for you to "unleash the beast". I remember my first time in Los Angeles last year, getting into the stand-still freeway traffic during rush-hour. Sitting right next to us was a beautiful Rosso Corsa/Black Ferrari F430 Coupe. I was pissed sitting in my rental Ford Focus, I can only imagine how pissed I would be if I were sitting in a Ferrari F430. He was trying his best to be patient, but I slowly watched his patience run out. As soon as the next exit appeared, I let him by and he tore off that exit like a rocket. The sound is seduction to the ears. Best of luck with the new F430 and outsmarting SoCal! ;)

    Real dealer or Broker?
Seem to be differnece of opinins on the quality of cars there based on feedback from many Fcar owners in Calabasas/Malibu area. Some pro, some con.
    Curious.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'real dealer'. They owned the car and I bought it. If you have the blessing of a reputable third party mechanic after a PPI then you're probably okay. That's how I looked at it.

Oh good, I wasn't crazy. I pass by there every day (Catalina & Diamond) but I just figured the rossa 550 was there by occasional accident. :)
