Says its a 4.9,.. wrong carbs,.. not very good looking. Are they really worth that much in that condition?

I have a Bora engine from #966. The body was lost in a building fire while being restored after a wreck. For years I looked for an engineless Bora to mate it with. I sold off the transaxle and suspension parts but hung on to the engine just because it never seemed to have enough resale value. I tried to sell it once in the mid 80's to fund a kit car project but found it was only worth $5000 then which was less than it would cost me to build a hot rod chevy engine. I thought about using the Bora engine in the kit car but that seemed too undignified. I swore I would keep it until it was worth decent money. Its a shame,.. less than 7000 miles and 33 years old.

We'll see if that dirty old ebay mystery motor can really fetch $12900??

Just wondering.... I have a 79 Merak SS. Nothing wrong with the engine or drivetrain.

Would a V8 Bora engine fit into a Merak? Just curious. Ya never know.

A Bora has an oil-filler cap on the valve cover?

The original car, chassis #902 was for sale on Ebay last year!

The asking price for the engine is correct if not to say cheap. A Daytona-V12-engine in that condition would come for 3 times more!

I stand corrected! Always thought the Bora was dry-sumped. Thanks Bob!

I think it was the Ghibli, Khamsin and possibly Indy that had the dry-sump engines.

Yes,.. another Bora bites the dust. I put that information page up when I was selling off the parts years ago and forgot it was there. I'll go and edit it to leave just the historical info. The car was completely disassembled and the body was prepped for paint and stored in a separate building from the mechanicals. The building burned down which was a shame because I had over 500 hrs of labor in reconstruction of the body from its wrecked state. I purchased the remaining parts from the insurance company. now I just have the engine and bumpers left.

Bundas, I sold off the transaxle and wish I would have kept it with the engine, but I got decent money for it. I'm glad to see it found a happy home in a Bora and didn't end up in some kit car. It really did have less than 7000 miles on it.

The real tragedy is that I never even got to drive the car.
