    I just bought;
Prince - Musicology (good album, not great, but good)
Aerosmith - Honkin' on Bobo (excellent blues)
Outkast - Speakerboxx (pretty good album)
Michael McDonald - Motown (love his voice, some good songs on there)

I am not into any of the dance or rap groups. Having said this, has anybody gotten anything new that they recommend??

If you like rock, the only albums that have impressed me over the last year or so were:
    - System of a Down Toxicity
    - Audioslave (self-titled debut)
    - Queens of the Stone Age Songs for the Deaf
    - The White Stripes Elephant
    - The Distillers Coral Fang

I think you would like Audioslave as well, based on your prev. choices.

I am pretty open minded, just don't care for most rap, dance , or country.

    Artists that have at least 1 album that I will listen from beginning to end are;
John Mellencamp (probably my favorite although his last album stank)
    Prince
    U2
    Rollling Stones
    Aerosmith
    Stone Temple Pilots

I just picked up U2's latest, "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb", and am liking it a lot.

U2 is one of the very few bands who not only has at least one album you can listen to from beginning to end and enjoy it, but they have several, actually almost every single album. I have found it takes a good 3 or 4 listens before I start to like a new album from them, but I have learned to trust them, knowing that I will more than likely end up liking it a lot.

Anyone get anything new worth recommending?

Audioslave is good; Chevelle is really good... Jimmy Eat World has two new singles that sound good... Check out Jet and maybe even Sum 41...

As already mentioned, System Of A Down is top notch, but they're a little more hardcore than the previously mentioned groups...

LOL I saw Chevelle in Lubbock Texas at a fairly small venue... I was right up in front of the stage while they were doing the final jam of their set. The jam deteriorated into the guitarist playing with his effects processor and playing with feedback in his onstage monitor. The fog machines really kicked in and the guy just kept looping the feedback on his digital processor.... this goes on for a good 2 minutes while the fog is so dense that I literally can't see 3 feet in front of me, and as the fog starts to clear, there is NOBODY onstage and that guitar is lying on the ground, feedback loop was still going, and the whole time I had thought he was still onstage with his guitar in the dense fog.

Maybe you had to be there to get what I'm talking about, but it was a pretty cool sleight-of-hand move. I'm sure they're not the first to do it, just the first time I'd ever seen it.

not a huge fan of Green Day, but I just got the American Idiot and besides the two over played songs, the rest of the cd flows very nicely...

Other then that, I agree with Jordan...you need some Mozart. :)

Have you listened to Oasis? I have all of their albums. Their recent albums have not had the commercial success that their first two had but they still make great music IMO. Get "Definitely Maybe" or "What's the Story Morning Glory" (those are their first 2 albums)if you have never listened to Oasis. Also check out The Strokes. They don't have a song I don't like but they are an acquired taste I guess.

While I don't usually like country music I like Old Crow Medicine Show. I guess it could be called bluegrass but am not sure. They are a string band. I only have a couple of songs that were e-mailed to me. I'm going to go look for the album tomorrow.

If you don't mind a slightly hyper band, try out Guttermouth. Others from the same genre that you may like are Rancid, Sum 41, Bad Religion, and The Offspring.

Some of my favorite Guttermouth tracks are "She's Got the Look" (Covered With Ants album, 2001), "Whiskey" (Teri Yakimoto album, 1996), "End of 9" (Friendly People album, 1994), and "Scholarship in Punk" (Gusto album, 2002).

Also, try out DJ Shadow. Right now I'm listening to the track "High Noon".

I'm a hard rock (no pun intended) guy ... so here goes my suggestion (more or less heavy rock):
    AC/DC
    Slipknot
    Rammstein
    Spineshank
    Korn
    Primer55
    Ill Nino
    Fear Factory
    Motorhead
    Natural Saint
    Saliva
    Dry Kill Logic
    Guttermouth
    Guano Apes
    Agent Orange
    Marylin Manson

    Other good music (different style...)

Queens of the Stone Age (not hard rock)
Chumbawamba (really weird british kinda pop sounding music, awesomeness)
    Jimmy Eat World
    Papa Roach
Midnight Oil (especially the early albums)
    Joe Satriani
    Joe Cocker
    Stevie Ray Vaughan

    Let's not forget
    NSync
    Justin Timberlake
    Worlds Apart
    Take That

For hard rock/metal, consider Metallica's Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets albums, Dream Theater (incredibly talented), Iced Earth, and In Flames. The last three are not well known if you usually listen to popular radio bands, but are very good.

I just heard Keane...Hopes and Fears is the name of the cd...no guitars played on the entire cd...very good songs and good vocals.

Other than that, U2 is always a good bet. I'm not into the rap scene..I play guitar so I tend to listen to artists like Paul Simon, Stones, Dylan, etc.
