Boring F1 - what do you actually expect?

    To really grab attention here in the US, the races probably need to be more competitive. Netflix has done more than their share to promote the sport. Keep in mind the NBA and NFL did a lot of tinkering with their product, which resulted in more parity amongst the teams and dramatic finishes that happen very often.
    Like soccer, F1 is deeply rooted in the rest of the world so I doubt we will see similar changes. The hard core F1 fan has his favorite team regardless of finish and appreciates the battles between the 7th and 8th place drivers as they try and overtake each other even though race has been decided long ago.

    You misunderstood me. Electronics like in driver's aids.
    The hybrid stuff would have to go. Limit the number of sensors and telemetry, data logging, etc ...
    Increase the driver's influence in the racing, and less of pitwall input.

    I will never attend another F1 race in person for the racing , been to so many races , the racing doesn’t live up to the parties

    I've never attended races for the racing, it's much better viewed on TV. I attend races to see the cars in action, to see, feel, hear, smell them. The cars seem so much more 'alive' in person, you get a much better sense of the speed and how hard the drivers are working. You can normally only see 1-2 corners, so you rarely get to see 'the race' as you've got an 80% chance of any action taking place out of your viewing area.

    The only thing better about the past, having watched since the 90's, is the sounds and when we had tire competition. Otherwise the cars are faster, WAY more efficient, WAY more reliable, and are able to race closer together and pass each other way more often than in the past. Having close racing at the front is, historically, definitely the exception and not the rule. It's been rare, and the only reason that cars in the past didn't win every single race was due to reliability, or in Mclaren's case, crashing out. There have been much larger gaps at the front, the Williams FW14B obliterated the field leading the FIA to ban active suspension.

    I also think the '22 up cars are better looking than anything in the recent past, maybe back to the early-mid 2000's, I just don't like the wheel covers. Proportionally they're spot on, wheel size included. Overall maybe they're a little large but in terms of wing size, location, wheelbase and wheel size they just look right. In the past the high nose cars, narrow rear wing with wide front wing cars with tiny wheels etc. looked all sorts of awkward and ugly.

    They had more driver aids in the past, traction control, active suspension, automatic trans, abs and the like. That's all gone now, they have paddle shift and an active diff, but no more of the other stuff. Sure the power unit has a lot going on, but it's still ultimately controlled by the right foot of the driver.
    So many people look at the past with the old rose colored glasses. Sure F1 was (arguably) more exciting when Gilles Villeneuve drove, but it also chewed up and spit out the drivers, dead or maimed. I have no desire to go back to that. They also had a bunch more driver aids in the past, now all outlawed except for paddle shift and electric diff - oh and I guess you could consider power steering a driver aid, though it all it does is amplify their input, not modulate it (unlike tc, abs and the like). F1 has always been about cutting edge technology, if it went wrong any place it was when they started artificially limiting tech to reduce cost instead of just capping cost and leaving the tech freedom.
    A lot of what folks here claim they'd like to see is being done in indycar and nascar, so why not go watch that instead?

    When the pitwall can check different functions, and warn the driver about malfunctions he hasn't detected himself, that's wrong.
    Remove all these sensors on cars and stop the data logging during races.
    At any moment, the driver should be to monitor his car himself without help.
    We could compromise: accept modern technology regarding safety, but keep the driver in full control of his vehicle.
    Radio communications should be stopped; they amount to coaching and outside help.

    I'm not familiar that Indy Car has done anything at all to surpass current F-1 tech? if so Id like to know. Same for Nascar - the latest Nascar i saw as newish... but still a spec frame car... with a carbon / fiberglass body look a like.

    radio and Telemetry is fine.... again you cant go backwards... I think the safety part should be highly regulated, and once the driver cell is fixed.. all else is open. got a design that uses tracks instead of wheels ... bring it!
