Hey Guys, Anyone know where I can get the '4'ea. 5" screws (bolts) that run through the alternator to the back side? They also allow the heat shield to bolt on to them. I need the O.E.M. parts, my local alternator rebuilder had something close, but they weren't treaded all the way. Any leads are appreciated. While I'm at it, any leads on the rear alternator heat sheild? Thanks, Chris.
Why not get those and a die, and thread them as necessary? You could try here: http://www.boschusa.com/autoparts/partfinder/partfinder.asp But I doubt it will help.
Get the bolts and bring them to a machine shop. Have them continue the threads to what ever you need. I've had many items customized, modified or whatever by a shop for a few bucks. I generally don't mention what kind of car I'm working on, simply ask nicely if I can get "x" done or "x to fit".... Just an option.
I appreciate your input, I've tried a alternator/starter rebuilding shop and even tried a series of hardware stores, to no avail. I'd like to replicate the O.E. bolts if possible. Thanks, Chris.
Grainger.com. As long as you know what size you want, they have metric and standard in just about any length, thread and style you want, threaded top to bottom. Probably have to buy 25, but, they are reasonable. www.Graniger.com or.... http://www.mcmaster.com/ also have everthing, and I've found them to be very helpful on the phone, even if you're placing a very small order.
