Can anyone help me with company that rebuilds WURs? I have a stack of them and would like to have a few rebuilt. Seems they just need a new bimetalic strip and spring. Anyone know of "kits" available to do them in house?

    Hi,

I rebuilt both regulators on my Boxer myself, it is a fairly trivial job if you're patient. Nothing needed replacment, (ie nothing was broken) but both were way out of spec. I purchased a fuel pressure gauge, and it's simply a case of shimming and/or adjusting the bimetalic strip operating point to acchieve the hot and cold running pressures. Just takes a little patience. The cost of the fuel pressure guage is easily offset by being able to do it yourself...and you'll know it's spot on.

John at SpecialTauto is the WUR go to guy. I had a good conversation with him last year when one of mine had a problem. Just don't get him started on Deloreans as he'll chew your ear off :)

The Porsche guys have been playing with these things a long time. They are very simple inside and usually the pressure is wrong. There is an aluminium plug that controls the response. You can remove the bottom and push the plug back a bit or it's easy to drill and tap and then use a bolt to move the plug up or down. You should use a meter to check continuity of the coil that heats the bi-metallic strip. YMMV

    Jeff,

That part is easy as long as the "range" of pressure is correct. As they get old, the band increases and thus you can't tune that out. The bimetalic strip wears out and causes the band to increase, that replacement is the hard part.

    Mark thanks for the link

You don't want to move the pin to try to fix anything but cold control pressure setting. To use this to adjust warm pressure setting will screw up the curve. To adjust it correctly you will have to machine special tools and know how to set it properly. Most of the porsche guys end up with mixed results and eventualy having thiers rebuilt by a pro. I am in the business of rebuilding the fuel distributors and I know how to do the warm up regulators also, but I am too busy to do them also. SpecialTauto is one of my distributors and I reccomend people get their warm up reg's from him. In the future I may start to do the WUR's, if you have more questions about the CIS and how to test it and fix it call me.

I wanted to open this thread back up because my warm-up regulator on my mondial3.2 works fine. Sort of. The electrical connection is corroded and I cant find a replacement piece. Anyone know where I can find it?

    the plug or the socket?

maybe these guys can source the part...but they are in australia:
    http://www.petroject.com.au/efi.html#4

wonder if they can supply other parts for the wur's, since they also rebuild them.

if you need the plug, it looks like this one...may work:
    http://www.autronic.com/page_files/connectors.htm

there's a list of distributors on the autronic site. If you get some info, please post as I may need to find pins for the blue plug on the fuel distributor.

a junkyard is always an options.

the connector would have to be pretty badly rotted to not be cleanable...how bad are they?

    Hi,
I know it's a very long time since this post, I have kits, springs, diaphragms, all the parts you need. But I am also looking for old WURs to rebuild and hold as stock for exchange. Is there anything we can do?
