For fun Tex Mex, awesome fajitas and margaritas, you can't beat The Border Cafe in Harvard Sq, Cambridge.

Daily Catch is an awesome dive in the North End. It's been awhile but the wife and I have enjoyed Olives in Charlestown a few times.

Have you had a flu shot? For a nice Boston experience that is not real fancy go to

I used to eat lunch there in the 80's when I worked downtown. Their Dublin Fries are incredible. Those, a beer, and a nice sandwich, is a really good meal.

Hi Ray. You can't go wrong with these two: Hammersly's Bistro (South End). For high end dining and superb wine selection and service: Troquet on the Common.

Saturday looks like a nice day so for a couple friends looking to enjoy parts of the city and have a great dinner experience; start in Faneul Hall for a cocktail and then walk through the green way gardens to Hanover street. Hanover is Italian central and not a bad meal can be had. Finish with an espresso at Mike's Pastry and a pasticcio macaroon (buy a box for your travel home!).

If your friend is a partner, suggest a different route, park at the Prudential and go to the Top of the Pru for a cocktail, then beautiful walk to Deuxave on corner of Mass & Comm Ave. Finish the night over the bridge at Fort Point with a casual lounge scene.

Sunday morning regardless, go to Town for early brunch. Unique, great crisp wine & beer list, great beginning for your next trip.

OK, I know I set that one up. Yes but for an out of town visitor the Mike's box to take home is priceless and they don't make pistachio macaroons which are just silly good, silly.

If you're speaking of the Cognac Bistro in Brookline with the fabulous cocktails and fresh oysters equal to Neptune, it closed and is now an Indian Restaurant. We haven't been to the new restaurant but it was a sad day - was a staple in the area.

Was there back in April (during the bombing) but ended up having some great meals. I encourage you to review these places and decide for yourself, but these are the places we ate:

    Craigie On Main - Cambridge
    Neptune Oyster - North End
    Mamma Mia - North End
    Eastern Standard - Commonwealth Ave
    Taranta - North End

We also did a lot of late night eating at Peach Farm in Chinatown - great fried crab and fried lobster dishes.

And while for the most part, the places above a nice dining places, if you want some seriously good New England Seafood, I highly recommend a place called Belle Isle Seafood. It's kinda out there from the central part of Boston and you need to drive (or the cab), but it was recommended to me by a native Bostonian and is, hands down, the best place for chowder and a lobster roll. It's like you walked into the most basic of fish joints with some formica counters, but it's well worth it. The building is on the water (and not a pretty water to al fresco dining) and is sometimes under the flight path of airliners landing at the airport, but we have a great time eating there, stuffing ourselves full of lobster and watching the planes landing above our heads.

I went to Capital Grille one night and Rabias the next. Both were bloody outstanding. Sorry I didn't heed any of the advice here. Nevertheless, I have a meeting there in the autumn and will definitely try some of the above recommendations. I know it is very tourist pity but I had some great oysters at the Union Oyster House. Had some Jameson's and Guinness at Hennessy's and The Black Rose. Boston is a great town!

Much delayed, but that's disappointing to hear. I'm heading back soon and was looking forward to this.
