Hi Guys, Went to Boston last night and was in this LONG tunnel (about 1.5 miles long, very white inside, forget exactly which one) and my Valentine laser went off twice. Naturally i was obeying ALL speed limits so no worries there, but are they using laser in the tunnels now? Wow! Oh, and went in a few tunnels last night and rev'ved her up. Erotic sound!
unless you were going into the airport, i assume you were in the newly submerged central artery (Route 93). it is possible they're using laser in there, but i've never seen police offers shooting laser in there, and i've never heard of unmanned "laser stations" - though i don't see why it's not possible. my V1 has its laser triggered now and then by certain cars' brake lights. doody.
I wouldn't be surprised if they used a device to monitor traffic flow in the tunnel. I'm sure they have cameras.
Steven, I travel the Mass Pike every day for work from the N.Shore to Framingham. On the MassPike tunnels near the airport, there are State Police there all the time running radar. Going eastbound in the 1st tunnel, as soon as the road starts to bear right, there is usually a Motorcycle Statey there waiting for people. Then going into the Ted Williams tunnel, just as you reach the airport a Statey is parked in the middle watching people. Based on the type of radar guns I am seeing them use, they are definitely laser guns. The part that pisses me off BIG time is in one 200 yard stretch the speed limit goes from 45 to 30 back to 40...WTF is the reason for that?????? Also just as you enter the Tedd Tunnel eastbound, there is a 45MPH sign way on the right that they put up this temporary orange 30MPH sign so someone like me who travels it EVERY day and does not pay attention could get busted big time! A fukken money maker by the State Police!!!! Ok I am stepping off my soap box! Michael
yes, that is probably it. I have seen cops using laser on the underground section of 93. My V1 does not always give sufficient advance warning on laser. as far as I know, all the tunnels in Boston (93 underground, airport tunnels, the Pike when it goes underneath the theatre district) are prime places to ticket drivers for speed. Probably, because there are few exits, plenty of shoulder, and sometimes restrictions on being able to change lanes. Obey all speed limits in Boston! Or, at least until you get to surface streets! - Jon
