I was finally able to purchase one after looking for a long time. Love it! Question: Is there a detail kit available that will help me finish off the engine? Also, how can I go about finding a driver? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, they did make a detail upgrade kit, but very rare and hard to find. Not sure if there are or were any suitable driver figures.
Congrats, I have this model as well, but it was assembled by the previous owner, sans the decals. The factory upgrade kit did include a driver figure as I recall, including decals for the helmet.
Thanks for the replies. Is there a way to duplicate the drive and decals? Any aftermarket pieces available? What about the engine detailing? Is there a kit available for that? I'd like to add the plug wires etc etc.
Try this Eric: 1/8 Scale WRX Rosso Ferrari 643 F1 Decal sheet + Upgrade Decal Kits ultra rare | eBay 1 8 Replacement Driver Helmet Decal for Rosso Ferrari F643 Alesi Prost | eBay only decals, but the best i could find
Look up Autograph models in Germany. At one point they sold detail sets and decals for this model. -F
Thundervalleyf1.com are just producing super brake upgrade kits for this kit. More to come for the engine and wheels. Have a look at their website, it's great. It would be a nice Christmas present for you! Happy shopping. Mark.
I have the same model - that I built. you can find the upgrad kits on ebay - usually around $800 ...and they come with the driver ( seated ) .... but i like it without personally you can also find the detailed decal sheets on ebay from a guy in Japan - they are very good, but require some trimming about $80. the model is very nice but does have some quirks....I love the case you have - where did you get that? Following this thread I have started to seriously think about taking on the task of building my 1/12 RE20 model myself. I have the build sheet with all the paint codes and a model shop right across the street. Can take it in steps as time is not a issue and it could be good therapy.
Well done Tom. I do have a question though...where did you get your display cases from? I really like the 100% transparency and would like to get my small collection out of the closet and display them. Thanks.
they will take a 1/12 scale model pretty easy... I use the clear plastic 1/18 model cases as risers so i can fit two 1/12 models in one case. I've used clear packing tape to keep them sealed tightly.. they will come apart after a while & w. vibrations.
So, I bought mine already built. (I don't have the patience or skills required to build it). It came with the case. The car is actually mounted on the base. I'm thinking about hanging it on the wall.
I have one of the unbuilt Rosso Ferrari 643 kits, going to sell soon. Belongs to a friend. We just have to determine price.
That is a very cool idea Eric. Do you know how it is mounted to the base and if it is removable? I think it would be cool to have the choice if you got the urge to rearrange the room layout and display concept/view.
The model comes with mounting screws you can use to secure it to a base. a wall mount would be different but I think this model is best as a show piece on its own - counter or shelf... to each his own. if you do mount on the wall - make sure the body is securly screwed down ... its a heavy shell - made from pot metal so it would crack badly if dropped hard.
