Just bought the 05 Honda Element in red!!! Thoughts on those. Seems to have a nice cult following and some neat features. Got the EX 2wd loaded, satellite radio etc. Any other Fchatters have one or opinions(not that any of us would ever lack for that)!!! :)
Post a pic this week after the dealer added options are complete. I basically got everything they can hang on one.

Nice choice. I put my stepson in one, plus we needed a hauler too. He has 17-18k on it already, has been very good car. EX,2wd, auto. Nice vehicle, useful. If you want fun, drive the Coop ;) We have one o' those too.

Im quite excited about it! Thanks for the reply. I have a Cooper S as well. After my upcoming move I hope to finally get back to the exotic side with the Honda as the daily. Been over a year since I sold my 94 Lotus S4. Time to get my next toy. Still searching for the good 308/328. Leaning towards the 328.

Some friends own an Element. They love it! It's been very reliable so far.

btw, as a former Lotus owner, what are your thoughts on the Elise?

Thanks, glad to hear the Element has been a good ride for them! I love the Elise. Its the BEST pure sportscar on the planet, period. Have driven many of the Euro models in Atlanta when I was living there and had access to Lotus Cars USA. Its on the list of potential additions. Nice to see Lotus with a car that has a waiting list for once!! :)

Wow..that looks very nice. I have been hesitant about the Element, the combination of a lot of platic external panels and some shady colors...with the whole box shape in general really didnt do much for me. Now this color combo on the other hand actually looks decent, the black and red look fairly stylish, and the addition of the side steps, mudguards etc. add a lot! Congratulations!

Hey David, thanks for the reply. I felt exactly as you did with the colors and overall shape. I originally could only do this if it was all black, with all
the add ons you see here. Then I saw the specs for the 05 and they added some great stuff to the EX package including this color for EX, and XM Sat radio std with some side airbags.
They are also offering black body panels with the red and that sealed the deal. Now it looks great and Im going to ad a nice Yellow Scuderia shield sticker to the rear window so that all know I support the TEAM in RED. Im no BAR HONDA FAN :)
Anyway, this is a great utilitarian vehicle with a cult following that does a lot for a small SUV and is still fairly economical. Its a great daily road machine.

I REALLY REALLY like your new car, the red/ black is very nice.

I think Honda aimed for a younger demographic with this and has hit big with some what older folks.

I.e., I (46 y.o.) like it more than my kids do; I have a 50 y.o. architect friend that bought one for himself and loves it.

This is exactly what happened with the PT Cruiser, and has happened with the Element. Both brands were intendedto attract youthful drivers, and ended up attracting a somewhat older audience. I'm curious what ya'll think of Scion (a brand clearly marketed toward teenagers).

    BTW, Very cool, davel :)

I'd love it for a daily driver, but I must have a 5 seater, and I think the Element is a pure 4 seater, correct?

    There's an A? (seriously.)

    Scion B: agreed

Scion C: agreed. I think the C is a very cool car, for what it is.

Yeah, the A is a nice enough little hatch that looks like a cross between a last generation Civic hatch and a Matrix.

Thanks!!! I just drove it today in some serious wind around here on I-10 and it did well but it felt it. I never felt any discomfort at all. I paid just over 21k for it. Its a 2wd EX model. Honda's have always been good choices for daily transport! :)

Hey Farmer Dave thanks! The dealer has said the same thing, lots of more established folks buying and utilizing these. Alot of business owners etc picking them up along with families etc.
I like the Scion as well. The coupe seems to be a great car for the money.

I think the Scion XB and the Element is ugly. The stock wheels on the Elememt looks like a dog dish. Also, why would you want one? This opinion isn't just mine it is also what I hear from other people.

My wife's family are big-time Honda lovers (7 Hondas in a row as of last month when he picked up a Pilot). My wife and I have a new Accord and an older Civic. The Accord has been EXCEPTIONAL. I've put 28,000 miles on it in the last 14 months, and nothing -- NOTHING has gone wrong.

FWIW, I think the Element is really cool, and I'm 22.

Re: the Scions, I think they are selling well to their intended demographic. I saw lots of Xb's in Arkansas, and right now I'm living in Alabama, and I see Scions everywhere, many driven by young people.

I have a younger sister, and at 16, she loves the Scion Xa.

First things first, I'm 24, and in the demographic for both the Scion and Element. I don't care for the xB at all, but I do like the Element. I especially like the Elements where people have painted the exterior plastic the same color as the body. How it will look in 3 years is a different question, but a cool vehicle nonetheless. I'd like to have something that has some versatility, without having to go the full SUV route. That, and like the Civic, I really dig the location of the gear selector on the manuals.

FWIW, my Dad (aged 52) is crazy about both the Element and the xB.

The Elements are epic. Right on, and enjoy. I really like the looks, and the red color is IMO the best for that car. My buddy has one in green; we have put everything from jack-hammers, to surfboards, lumbar, fertilizer and any other object imaginable in that car. Plus, you can sweep out the car when you’re done. It’s awesome. I love them. Your red one is the BEST looking Element I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment. I have plenty of plans for this one as far as beach and travel are concerned. Your right the interior and the floor allow for alot of activities and options you just cant do in other vehicles. Im glad this little red beast is my daily machine.
