I am so excited. The dealer told me I would get it Tuesday when I was at the dealership. He just called and I can have the car today if I want it. He will be here in a few hours. Oh life is short and so many exciting cars to try. Lee
Yes I never warmed up to that car. To bad they were the "ultimate drivimg machine" I loved by earlier two BMWs. Sad. I drove my 12C Meclaren today for the first time. It is a different kind of car than I have owned before. It is very fast and comfortable. I need more time with the car but I think I will like it. The Mcaren dealer in Tampa that I bought the car from is awesome. I have bought alot of cars but their service and customer care is the best I have experienced. Thanks to all for all of the kind words You are a great crowd Lee
It is new. With no disrespect I rather not go into price. IT is SURE A different driving experience. you can find prices on the web Lee
Thank you for sharing your automotive experiences with us! I look forward to hearing how this car stacks up against your others.
Congratulations on your new 12C. Great car! BTW, how long was your delivery wait time? And what int/ext colours did you pick?
Awesome! Congratulations Lee Like everyone looking forward to your thoughts - I'm particularly interested in how you find it compared to the Elise an Evora Happy driving!!!
2012 or 2013? I think the new 2012s may be gone as my local dealer no longer has any. The power is really stupendous and unlike others I do feel some turbo lag. The engine has so much torque that the lag is more like from "wow this is fast" to "holy crap!" But it is there. I really like the flexibility of independent control of suspension and Powertrain and manual vs auto shifting. Oddly, I think I am better with a manual box on the street,as I can finesse my shifts a bit better, but the shifting is incredibly fast and less harsh than I can do it when going all out. It is no Elise given the power steering and 1200 lb weight delta but is faster in pretty much every way, except for perhaps maximum grip.
Hi Mike great to hear from you. My Freind. jay called the week before I could go and they were able to pull cars from other places. They only had one used Maclaren when he called. They wanted me to see the different colors. I thought that was very nice of them to do this. They had three colors for me to look at and decide. I assume jay told them that I was a car person and could be a serious buyer if I liked the car. wait time was one day. I gought the car and they delivered it to my home the next day. I understand from Jay it can be up to a year if you order a car. They are around in other states so you can find them. More to the point of your question, I have never seen a Maclaren on the road The dealer was sure I would like it so he prepared for the visit. The Tampa Mclaren dealer really impressed me with the service and professional demanor. Exterior color? after all that I got white with black wheels and red brake calibers. I like white on cars that have beautiful exterior lines. The white does not distract from the art of the exterior design. My Lamborginni was white also. When I get a few miles on it and that experience I will give some camparisons with the cars I have owned and one car I drove and liked but choose the Mclaren instead. Thanks again for the kind words Regards, Lee
I have not driven it much but so far I have not felt any turbo lag. The car is twin turbo which I assume one is small so it spools up fast and the second and bigger turbo comes on next. It may also have varible veins in the turbo housing. The Turbo Porsche uses that technology and it was smooth and very fast. The dealer told me the Mclaren does 0-60 mph in 3.2 secs and to 100 in 7 secs. In his demonstration drive he rocketed to 151 mph and stopped as fast. A very impressive demonstration. It made my heart pound. Yes I loved my Elise sport. #8 of 50 made for racing at least that is what the plate said in the car. Lee
Lee, if you have a 2012, I am assuming it had the 2013 Upgrades to the 616 HP, it should even be faster than those times when it is broken in. With Launch Control, we have recorded 0-100 in 6.4. Curious how you like it compared to your 458 with N/A motor. Either way enjoy it in the best of health. Here is a photo of mine from August of 2012. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You will love it. It is my favorite new car, and that's after me being pretty lukewarm to the design when it came out. I bought one a couple weeks ago and it is just an absolute rocket. With the sport exhaust it makes a great sound as well. The car is light and feels like it, and McLaren do not b.s about weight. I put it on the same scale I weighed the "lightweight" Lamborghini LP570-4 Performante on and it weighed a whopping six hundred pounds less! I'd love to find the right Spider.
Great car. I've put few thousand miles on mine LOVING it! I suggest sport cats sound of engine much improved plus about extra 30 HP
DBK congrats mine has sport exhaust and super light weight forged wheels, I think the design is aging very well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had the factory sport exhaust but it is NOTHING sound and performance wise to Fabspeed after mkt system.
I have not tried launch control yet. The dealer told me it would not hurt the drive train at all. In fact he said "use it at every stop light if you want" Love your car. They are just stunning to look at. In fact this morning I sat on the step at the door of my garage, drank coffee and just looked at the mclaren 12C. It takes your breath away. I also had the Mosler in the garage so eye candy was everywhere. My 458 is my third Ferrari, with the 360 and F430 being the first two. Those cars were awesome to drive in the day. and probalbly are to this day. I have never really loved the 458. Yes it is beautiful to look at with that unique F car sound. The car is not taut when you drive it. I will most likely not buy another F car. But as the 458 and I have grown together I have gotten used to it and drive it once in awhile. I have kept it because my wife likes the car. The car I cannot keep my hands off is the Audi R8 V10 manual. But that is another story Each car I buy fills a driving niche or or experience which is one of the reasons I bought the Meclaren. The first day with the Mclaren, I said 458 is a better sports car. The second day of driving the meclaren I am not sure I may be moving over to the Meclaren camp although I like both cars, tomorrow will love the Mclaren. I love the Meclaren lets you can adjust the chasis handling and the power plant with its own switch. I need to Drive the 12C some more. Thus far I am in sport for chasis and track for powerplant. My opinion is within a day or so it will be track/track What a thrill Lee
