Just bought a BMW 850CSi, something I have been considering for a while. When I heard about this car which was never advertised I decided to go for it.
Dont shoot me for saying this, but I have driven many many cars in my time and the car the CSi most resembles in its general feel and power delivery is the 550 Maranello only with more torque.

    Congratulations. Post some pics!

What are the HP/Torque numbers for the car? Also what is the curb weight?

Congratulations! I always liked that car but never got to drive one. Hated the regular 850 though.

beautiful car, I always admired the style

I heard that BMW released the 850 just before F released the 456

F had to redesign the original 456 bcus it looked so much like the 850

    Just a rumor I heard

Great car - I've always had a soft spot for the 8-Series, and of course the CSi is the ultimate variation. Wonderful choice!!

Congrats- The 850csi is a very solid car. I had one in the US and put over 105,000miles on it. It was actually much more fun to drive than DB9. It is the only car I ever regret selling. Pretty close to the perfect balance of practicality, style, performance and reliability. No major headaches in that many miles is pretty impressive. Enjoy and take care of it. Nigel.

Congratulations!!! Awesome purchase! Definitely one of my all-time favorite BMWs. Please write any thoughts you have once you drive it. Pictures would be great, too. :D

Awesome, one of the best looking BMW's of its time. The design is so sleek, so perfect.

Love the 8 series. The 850CSi being the flagship is one of my all time favorite bimmers. Here's my question though, why did they depreciate so damn fast?

i think what hurt it here in the US, is that it is a true GT. heavy, fast and big. it shows its brillance when cruising in the tripple digits. in the US you can't use the car like it was ment to be. heavy for city traffic and geared for highspeed cruising. othwerwise lovely car and great purchase.

The early M70 V12 cars had reliablity issues and high maintaince issues, which drove their prices down. Most of these issues were pretty well resolved by the mid 90s and the introduction of the second generation V12s.

The CSis never really depreciated that much...even today a 95 with 50k miles commands AT LEAST 45k-50k.

Thanks guys, Im very happy with the car, had to drive it 250 miles to get it home and Im seriously impressed by it, will post some pics when I get a chance, the weather is crap here now.
As to depreciation, the CSi is a lot more expensive than any other 8er, a good one is worth well over double the best standard 850i, at least here in UK/Ireland. I know they are pretty prized in the US too, a 94 one was sold there recently for $55000. Not sure how many were sold in the US but there were only 150 made in RHD for UK.

They do command a high price in the US. I just looked over at mobile.de and a quite a few in Germany are in the $20-$30k USD range.

    I should just live there and buy up an 850CSi, E38 750iL, and E39 M5! :D

IIRC, we have somewhere between 3 and 5 hundred. I don't remember exactly anymore. As I said before, GREAT cars, and rather historic (only ///M V12 made for a public sale BMW-badged car)

I know! I would have a Alpina B12 6.0, a factory AMG SL73 (factory R129 SL600 with Pagani spec 7.2L V12), and of course the Euro CSi. Oh and I woud get a VX220 as a run around too. :D

The 850CSi is really a great car that not too many people know about. Very subtle in its styling, but has great performance for the amount of weight it lugs around. Congrats on the purchase.
