Yes otherwise you can't set it up properly. Finding that out once it's in the car would be a real drag.
Just found this thread a couple days ago. I love seeing these types of threads. Great work as usual and things are looking mighty pretty.
Fitting the new clear euro lenses required some alteration. When we were at the prep stage prior to paint I used a pair of mint original lights to verify the openings were right. The new clear lenses (Im assuming are reproduction) need some persuasion not only to fit the opening but then fitting the OEM housings. I used a foil decal to transfer the shape I needed to duplicate on the new lens then ground to down and did some final hand fitting to make it sit flush and tight. They look great in frosted clear though, need to do mine in the near future as well as the 84 im restoring. Paul, what Boxers came with clear lenses and which came with the more common yellow lenses? Are they easy to change back and forth?
France and Italy had clear lenses, possibly japan? Your car is a swiss car originally (Zurich) and has amber. Easy to change only if you have complete lights, 15min job really but you would never switch the lenses back and forth if you only had one set of housings.
I just scanned thru the whole thread! Who did the leather work on your steering wheel? It will be so cool to go for that first test drive. After such a job, how long before you get it back and give it a once-over? mini-service - Oil, brake bleed, radiator bleed etc. That car was so lucky to have found you!
.....and now the M engine is going in.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
More parts ready for delivery to Paul this week. The large shiny part to the left is an NOS fuel sender; the various labels at the bottom are obvious; bonus points to the first person who correctly identifies the part (with the overturned label attached) furthest to the right !! Well done, and I was just going to post a better photo since the original one wasn't that good. Now, how many bonus points is that worth ... Image Unavailable, Please Login

You are actually past any legal limits, due to age. "Exceeds range" or something like that, is what the Title will say...... It's on a Grey Market car, all of them are the same....
Go find my thread, where I asked "How much is a Boxer windshield?" That was really the start of the story...LOL! "Too much" was my answer! Glad to see the car coming back together, looks good, Paul.
Where did you find a NOS fuel sender? I've been looking for a replacement for mine which has been bastardized in the past.
Bought it off a private individual -- he only had one piece, and knew how rare it was, thus it was pricey.
