What a rediculous price: $800.00

 

The head studs alone are worth more than $800, add in the front cover, oil pump and timing gears and I think there is some value for the guy who needs some of these these parts. The block itself would only have value to someone for display reasons or someone that has a damaged 7-12 side case and a good 1-6 side case and is desperate enough to try to mate the two. I replaced this engine 10 years ago and it was tough to find a replacement block then so I would think the supply or donor BBi blocks is not improving with time.

 

I've seen this more times than I want to remember. From these photos, I believe it could be salvageable. Bad, but I've seen worse saved. If you want a professional opinion, let me know.

No question it could be repaired. Simply a matter of cost.

Plenty of cars are restored with little more than wreckage and a VIN if the value is there.

It would be interesting to know where the car that this block belonged to is now.

 

The owner I did the replacement for sold the car, I did talk to the then current owner a few years back and the car was in Florida.

 

When he cuts the reserve, I will place a bid. And yes it can be repaired. Just some good old elbow grease and some.......love!!!!!

 

Hi All. I have a 512 BBi block if anyone's interested and no it does not have any holes in it. Let me know if of interest.

 

Hmm... A little JB Weld and it will be just like new!

Yes in north of germany, near Bremen. It's a 365BB gearbox case serie 2/version 5

Looks like a nice garage with the BB, the Dino and a 308? in the background.

Quite sad there is no german sub forum ...

 

In the background is Testarossa and behind this but not on picture a 328GTS. And behind this a Fiat Dino Spider.

 

That block can be fixed for way cheaper than a spare.

 

fixed far worse, on way more expensive models and way more famous ones tooo(these are usually hard core racing cars with racing stamps on blocks or heads)its just metal, welding, x-rays, sonic testing, stress releif ovens and vibratory tables....its only an exercise in time money and my machine shop...no biggie...
