can someone please tell me if there is a special method to topping off the radiator for the boxer? i was having overheating issues and had boiled out a bit of coolant. do i top off or fill at the expansion tank or at the radiator?

if topping off at the takn...do i remove the cap on the front so as not to create an air bubble?

    your help is appreciated.

    Strange question...

Boxers only have 1 cap, and it's on the expansion tank. There isn't one on the radiator. 400/Daytona etc had a rad cap, but nothing since.

The method is exactly the same as your 308QV...... (If after reading your owners handbook, it's still unclear!!..................)

Turn the heater to the hot setting. Run the car a short while, not too hot. Stop the engine (is best, but a slow idle is ok too). remove the cap (slowly, just in case it's too hot).

Open the bleed screw on top of the radiator a few turns only, (don't remove it) .....until air and bubbles come out.

Watch the tank level, and don't let it go too low. Stop the bleed and top up if it gets low.

Have the system AND THE CAP tested for pressure control to be all ok.

thank you phil. i was able to get some advice that matched yours from another site. i was having some issues w/ fluid still leaking out of the overflow tube after a drive and thought there must have still been an issue. an air bubble or..?? the car runs @ 90 deg. c. and seems fine but why the overflow? it was not too full. thanks for your advice.

    No worries.

Check the cap hold pressure if it still leaks out.
