Does any one know why some boxers distributors have 1 mag pick up and some have 2 ?. i have a dist with one and need to replace it as it has been melted by fire. ( where to buy). the manual states that the distributor only runs on 1 pick up but does not say why 2 are fitted. Any helpers.

Ferrari UK had them for about $350 for the cap, ReOriginals about the same.

There is a used one on Ebay now started at $75, but you are taking a risk could be worse than what you have.

I have heard a jag V12 cap is the same but I may be mistaken as its for the V12 Ferraris.

Frank soon after i got my Boxer I started it in my garage and let it idle, suddenly large amounts of steam seemed to be coming from the rear deck lid, I opened the lid with it still running to find pools of liquid on top of the heads, shut it down smelled it and found it was fuel, traced it to the lines running to the carbs their are 2 plastic Ts one had a crack in it from me previously messing around with the spark wires and I bumped the lines causing the crack, thats all it took for a big leak, luckily it was in my garage and was easy to spot and not on the road with wind blowing the steam off, the lines were also leaking a bit where they attached to the carbs so I tightened them also.
    Definately watch these areas.
