Hi everyone. I have not posted much about my car because it has been sitting for the last month waiting for the dum- dums at the DMV to get a registration screw up resolved. Well, it took getting up early and standing in a humongous line to straighten out the details after numerous attempts at calling, and faxing the necessary documentation. After getting everything all resolved in about 10 minutes, I, of course took the car out for a 75 mile blast winding it out up and down the freeway and through the city streets to even run some errands also. The car ran flawlessly and it was so great to hear the glorious roar of the flat 12 when I wound it up! So, here is the problem. Near the end of my run, my turn signals completely stopped working. I was just a few blocks from my house, so I waited until I got into the garage to check them more closely. I turned on the headlights by rotating the stalk and the right side went up an down repeatedly and then stopped in the up position with the other side. The high beam and low beam lights functioned properly, but no turn signals on either side. When I tried to lower the lights by rotating the stalk, the right side went up and down repeatedly about 10 times before finally stopping in the down position. So, my question is what could be the cause and is it something I can fix quickly myself? Thanks guys. Sorry for the long story, but I felt like sharing my fun morning.

My turn signals work fine but I have the winking headlight problem also.

A search shows either a bad relay or the diodes in the headlight motor.

I am still looking for a large enough electrical schematic for a Boxer to use.

I have a copy of the service manual but the entire car's electrical is on one 8x11 page and is illegible.

Check your fuses and your turn signal relay if the fuses are good for your turn siganl problem.

Check your LH and RH headlamp lifing relays. Try switching the two and see what happens. I had a similar prolem on my Lambo and it was the headlamp lifting relay ground connection. It should be a farily easy fix.Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. If I can't fix it myself, then off to the mechanic. I also discovered a curved metal object on the garage floor near the right rear wheel which turned out to be one of the wheel balancers. I guess I really drove the heck out of it. So, I will probably just take it to my mechanic because I don't trust the teenager at the tire place to not scratch or damage the rims and the spinners. Ron, I would like to lower my car also, but I think I'm going to concentrate on making it mechanically perfect (relatively speaking), work out all the bugs and replace all the old malfunctioning components- like these lights and turn signals! I would like to eventually spruce up the cosmetics inside and out then overhaul the entire suspension, replace the sodium filled valves, and replace the differential carrier. This all will take quite a while since the car runs very well as is and I'm in no hurry. One thing at a time. But, if I had the money, I would just completely restore the entire car making it new like the guy in the Dino thread. I can't wait to see that baby when it's finished.

My turn signals stopped working recently (along with the rear brake lights).

It turned out to be a just a bad fuse.

PS: Great looking black Boxer, congrats!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I agree that I couldn't take the two year wait for the resto process. I would hate not having it to drive. It's also the sheer weight of the quoted $125K cost by my mechanic that's holding me back! And I wonder, after spending all that money, would I be too paranoid to drive it as I do now.
