    Daniel Pass just sent me an x-host system for my boxer. i hope there will be some that have undertaken the job to self install. please give me an idea of:
    1. what tools i will need and if any special ones are required
    2. what is the process to remove the old...ie: remove bumper cover or ??
    3. time required to complete the job

    thanks to you all in advance and special thanks to daniel @ ricambi for the system and the help!!!

    10 minutes to yank the rear bumper with just the small 10mm head bolts along the top edge. The muffler is then easy to access. Probably 10mm, 12mm, maybe 13mm wrenches and sockets. You might break the bolts that hold the muffler to the headers and you might need the donuts for the headers to mufflers.

    Get some PB Blaster and soak all the muffler nuts overnight, the nuts are special to Ferrari as they have a cut in them to act as a locking nut.

    Bumper comes off easily just the bolts on top, then start removing all the exhaust nuts, you'll see the rubber bushings that hold the exhaust to the frame which need to be removed.

    as original... the bumper is held on with flat screw driver slotted screws... not 10mm hex headed bolts...

    But of course, these seem to have disappeared on most cars now.

    As the exhaust is so prominent, it's nice to be ready with all new fasteners.. use brass or copper nuts, and assemble with a little anti seize copper grease.

    The cotton reel mounts can be fragile... but often super glue will help you out. it can actually be stronger than a new mount!

    The donuts (exhaust, not Krispy Kreme) should be in that box. I think I just grabbed a bunch and shoved them into a FedEx padded pack. If you need more, let me know.

    Sorry about all the styrofoam peanuts. I'm sure the World Wildlife Fund, EPA, and Greenpeace all have my phone number on speed-dial.

    How about some pics of the exhaust before and after install?

    Anyone ever use Jet-Hot to coat their headers?

    my headers were stripped of the stock heat sheilds and then jet hot coated in silver (aluminum color).

    i will photograph the x-ost system and provide feedback to you all. daniel @ ricambi helped to co-ordinate and has been great!

    a ricambi america plug...insert here!!

    Jet Hot would be the way to go if you are taking them off.....I say good to inspect them closely anyway.....

    Brass nuts is an old Hot Rod trick and will help with future diassembly.

    Split locking nuts are not Ferrari specific but a good idea, there are also standard hex's that are "goose egg'd" shape to where they grab the bolt. when applied...

    Lot's of vibration...use SOMETHING or you'll be looking under there next week wondering where they went!

    Daniel, did you ever get the rear flange 'spring/bolt' package put together for the 308? I recall you found it OEM on the F40 flanges....

    YES, DO IT! You will be amazed by the sound and how quickly the engine revs up with no mufflers and just open headers. Here's the video of mine if you haven't seen it already:http://youtube.com/watch?v=lT9n-BhD9lk

    I took it out for a quick drive around the block and the neighbors loved it. :)
