The manual for my BB512i calls for Agip SINT 10w50 oil, which is a synthetic oil. However, I have been unable to find a 10w50 weight oil anywhere. Should I use a good quality synthetic 10w40, 20w50 or 10w60 oil instead ? What are other Boxer owners using?

Check out the "Oil Info" thread in the tech section.

I didn't see any 10w-50 oils at all; however, there were a couple of 5w-50's.

The viscosity of the Mobil 1 Synthetic 15w-50 is not that much more at low temps than the 5w-50's, and I see it for sale in a lot of places. I would use the Mobil 1 and give the car a couple more minutes of warm-up time before running it hard.

    Mobile One 15W - 50 in my BB #27001.

This was recommended by Caribou Racing of Costa Mesa, CA who did the re-build on the engine.

Ferrari did a bulletin update around 1986/87 indicating that Agip 10W-50 was no longer going to be made and to use the new Agip 10-40W SINT (or SYNT). I have the actual service bulletin, so I know this is true. I use 10W-40 Agip SYNT in my 308QV.
