Does anyone know what year they started offering black bottom "boxer Paint" on the 308? How many were made? What is the proper paint color and code? I need to do some paint work on my 308 and I am concidering this look. Thx

See this thread, notably my post # 19 for the paint codes of the black.
The "boxer paint scheme" was already available at the beginning of the 308 GTB production, with the first glass cars.

The Boxer paint scheme was available from 75 to 82. Not sure how many were made though. Matt Black lower body Code 20.B.50 plus 20.T.380 Matt Lacquer.

It was available even during the first years of production of the 328, that is 1985 and 86, but not popular anymore, and only on special order. Less than a dozen 328s left the production chain with it.

I remember it here and there with the 2Vi cars. R&T's test car of the injected GTSi had it.

But I don't remember any QV's that did. I always assumed Ferrari didn't paint any of those like that. I would imagine on a US car, that scheme would be rather "busy" with the hood vents being black and especially in 83 with the black A pillars.

Anyone got a pic of a QV with boxer paint?

I thought I remembered a couple people here having Boxer schemed QVs. I would not bet the farm on it, but I really thought someone did.....

I am sure that someone here has, or had, a 328 GTs in boxer paint scheme, said to be original.

There were 12 328s that left the factory with Boxer paint. I owned one, 61553. See my avatar.

Matthias Urban has them documented in his books.

I miss that car. It was quite a different experience than my current GTB. 328 owners loved to inquire about the Boxer paint scheme. While I prefer the B I'd love to have an S to change it up at times.

There were at least 3 other GTS's that had the Boxer scheme that made it to the States.

The Dino 308-GT4 service bulletin dated January 7, 1975, contained instructions on how to tape and paint the Boxer scheme. The bulletin had many other fixes and updates, but does provide factory endorsement of Boxer-on-308.

I assume the same would extend to the early GTBs.

There was a white/black boxer '84 308 QV for sale at Marshall Goldman a month back. I'm assuming it was original.

Were they all red? One of the rarest of the 328s, I imagine.

Mine was red over black leather. There was another that was red over tan leather. I think you posted the ad for that one. The third I saw was silver but I can't remember the interior color. It was an Fchatters, IIRC.

I have a 1984 308 qv with original boxer paint. Red with black interior. I did some research on this subject and was told that less than 5% left the factory with this paint scheme. The Ferrari archives lists these cars as "bi-color". I'm not sure of the color code for the flat black. Solid color would be my first choice, but over time, I have grown to like the boxer paint scheme.

In 83 I saw a bi-color QV in a London show room. It was metallic fuchsia over metallic silver. Was actually a very pretty car, for a women.

So we have a proof that there were also QVs delivered in the scheme. Thanks. I would say much less than 5% for the QVs in "Boxer paint scheme", probably around 1%.

Another proof (with reserve if not 100% sure that it was original) that some QVs had the Boxer paint scheme.

Does anyone else have yellow GTB with "Boxer-paint" originally from factory?

If the group is looking fore more examples, my '83 308 GTS QV is silver with black, and is an original paint car. I have never posted before, sorry if this does not format correctly...

Recent auction in Austin had a 328 with Boxer Trim.
I agree it was VERY rare, past the final Boxer made, in 1984!!
