i know this subject has been discussed many times...but just got my new issue of the ferrari market letter and prices continue to go up on the boxers...when and where do think they'll stop increasing in price.your thoughts...by the way these are advertised prices for sale..not the asking price index...128k,169k,189k,159k,150k...these were the five listing prices all BBI'S and one BB for 149k

I'm surprised, given the precarious state of the economy. I know the Boxer/early 308s are getting harder to find nice, but I wouldn't expect a big surge in prices now.

Maybe European buyers are taking advantage of the weak dollar and buying Boxers now?

Or maybe the geniuses paying strong six figures for common muscle cars are looking for a smarter place to park their automotive money.

This would be my first guess Jon.

BUT, they havent sold yet, he said they are listed.....so the next 4-6 months will be interesting to see if they sell. I have also seen a bunch of Dinos hit the market from 225-270....last year i couldnt even find a Dino for sale.

Where to put one's US dollars these days?
    The stock market? NO.
    The real estate market? NO.
Bonds, treasuries? Inflation will eat you.

The art market, which includes cars that are valued like art, is an Internationl market,
somewhat removed from the trials of the American economy.
Boxers are now entry level for those who appreciate car art.

As 275GTBs and Daytonas and 330GTCs and Dinos go up, Boxers should follow in their wake.

Removing the "low" and the "high" we're looking at a median "asking price" around $150k! It would be interesting to know real selling prices. My guess would be 10% to 15% lower than this.

good point...of course the opposite to that point is that these are luxury items and when the economy goes so does the luxury goods...........

    Luxury Items? Naa...
Luxury items are plasma TVs, BMWs, and Euro vacations; the stuff of the masses.

One has to have wayyyy too much money sitting around to pay $600K for a GTB, $350K for a Daytona or $200K for those anemic, pretty little Dinos. We're not talking luxury, we're talking big irrational art money.

    I disagree.
Europeans have to pay big VAT and European Union taxes to import a non-EU car.
So US cars have to be siginficantly undervalued.

And most muscle car guys will remain muscle car guys.
It's like trying to change and raise someone's IQ.

Sorry, I had to sleep over here in Oregon. It was time for my nap.
Tax questions: To my knowledge, if your Boxer was originally Swiss (like mine), there would be no tax to re-import it to Switzerland. However to import it to the UK or EU (Switzerland is not a member of the EU) there would be big tax. Intra EU - Swiss - UK transfers face tax repercussions as well.

An EU or Swiss accountant would have definitive information.
