After all the Boxer wheel discussions in the past few years, here is the REAL DEAL. I have been negotiating with Eisenhaus for a group buy on their Boxer Replica wheels (made by Neez) after they were brought to our attention on another thread a while back. These wheels are available in forged magnesium for a princely sum. Most of our Boxer people seemed to like the wheel but not the material. EisenHaus has offered the following deal: Two 17X10 for the rear and two 17X8 for the front in forged aluminum without splines for $3,680. Ten sets minimum, waiting time about 8 weeks. We would need input from our wheel experts to verify correct offset, etc of course. I'm in for a set, anyone else?

Hope you guys get enough owners that want these wheels to complete the order, I am not interested but something to add these replica wheels will fit Daytonas as well as they share the same hubs and splines, I recall seeing a modded Daytona here with Speedline wheels that looked totally wrong for the car, these wheels would look much better.

I'm in. What would the tire choices be with these size rims?

    i will participate also.

i need to know we will have the proper off set so as to have no portion of the tire and wheel protruding beyond the fender lip. i also need to under stand how/if the splines are adapted.

and are finishes optional or will they arrive in cast form?

    how will we arrange deposits?

way i look at it...3700 frequent flyer miles!

IF WE GET 10 BUYERS FOR THE WHEELS AT A CERTAIN PRICE WHAT ABOUT
THE TIRES AS WELL ?? IS THERE A CERTAIN TIRE THAT WOULD BE SUGGESTED OR RECOMMENDED THAT WOULD GIVE US BOXER OWNERS THE
BEST SET-UP FOR OUR CARS ? I'M ALSO THINKING MORE ROAD PERFORMANCE / DRIVING THAN ON A TRACK & STOCK KONI'S.

    Robert,
Many thanks for your hard work and time spent on this. I talked to a friend today to make this thread a "sticky" to gain exposure. I'm interested in a set for my BBI, but have a couple of questions as previously posted by others.

    1) Will the wheels be finished (painted & clearcoated) or cast finish? If cast, will they have a high quality surface finish to accept chromate primer/paint without further finishing?

    2) We could post threads to other forums and publications such as the FCA newsletter classified section to attract additional buyers if need be. If we exceeded 10 sets is their a next level of quantity to further the discount, or is the 10 set minimum and thats it?

    3) I would like to have a further look at tire choices & 17" sizes in order to mate with my street touring use of the car.

I would like to see a better discount. Just spent $$$ on rebuilding my complete front end including steering box. I also repainted the stock wheels and new tires - all 4 $$$$. Murph, buy a second set and i will pay you later :)

Powder coat would be the best and mabey cheaper than spraying individually.
Painting 20 wheels should be cost saving and 100% consistant gloss (stock).

Be careful when putting more rubber on a Boxer. The transaxle is its Archilles hill and when it breaks will cost you mucho dinero$$$!

Just talked again to one of the eisenhaus guys. They think these wheels will come painted and clear coated. They claim that "powdercoating weakens a forged aluminum wheel" and they will not do this. No further discount for more than 10 sets of wheels. I had assumed (a dangerous thing) that the majority would want these wheels with as close to the factory finish as possible. This info is not from the owner- I will confirm when he calls me back. I think they will be amenable to whatever finish the "group" requests.

Stock painted finish sounds good to me. A further discount beyond 10 sets doesn't, but I'm still interested.

I'm not very interested. That price works out to two sets of XWXs from Coker, which would last me at least 10 years.

Plus, I prefer to keep my cars as original as possible.

From the looks of this thread it doesn't look like to promising.
None the less, I'm sure this thread will come up again in the near future when the only source for TRX's and or XWX's either stops producing or charges mega premiums for these tires. As if they already aren't over priced.

Geographic location does not matter, (shipping might be higher!). It sounds like we have around 4 or 5 takers at this point. Should we have a sign up list or something like that to keep track of the serious players?

I´m interested, but need some tire size info for 17´´.
Also I´m back on the boat I work on, and the communications system has been down for 2 weeks. But I was looking through some car mags, and don´t really see any tire sizes, and speed rating that will give the original tire diameter we need.
Can anyone suggest a tire size for front and rear?
It can be done with 18 though, to within about a quarter inch.

I have a problem in that I can't ascertain who's definitely in. Do we need some kind of sign up thread? This is definitely the best deal by far on factory replica wheels I have seen. There are several tire sizes that would work very well with these wheels. Experts please chime in here....

    I'd be in,

except as I mentioned before, need some suitable tire info first.

Boxer front 215-70-15 tires are about 26.8 inches tall, and the rear 225-70-15 are about 27.4 inches tall.

All of the suitable 17 inch tires I could find listed in a recent R&T mag from any of the tire companies seem to be about an inch or more shorter than the original height. And that will leave even a larger gap between the tire and fender wheelwell arch. And not to mention that the oddometer will be spinning even faster than necessary!

Maybe a little after the fact to mention now, but you can come within a quarter inch of original height with 18 inch wheels and tires.

If anyone can come up with a suitable tire of close to original height in 17 inch size, I'm in.

I would be in at a later date like the summer. Others might feel the same way and if it takes that long to get everyone together then Ill be on the wagon for a set by that time.
