Wow... that thing must be plenty LOUD!

I've never seen a single canister system on a Boxer before.

I've got one on a car in my shop too.....

I had to remove it for AUS compliance as we need 95db... and the Bell was 104!!

It's going back on though, just as soon as the tests are done, of course.

Not only does it sound great, it's very nicely built and it weighs a fraction of the std system.

The site is being reconstrucetd at the moment, the system was on my car when I bought it, apparently its quite a lot lighter than the tubi system and a bit louder too, although i dont find it at all intrusive at low speeds or cruising,

I just had a 2 can Borla installed in my 82bbi and it is loud, I could just imagine that single can exhaust above 6000 rpm.

the system was on the car when I bought it but looking at it would suggest a perfect fit, its very well made, I also have a brand new original faactory system, but I dont ever see myself using it.

    Pete
i have seen the pics of the Larini you posted before, it sure is pretty, when I was looking for a car last year, I contacted Larini twice and they never replied, strange i thought! It is loud, but as i said i cant compare it to any other boxers, I have heard a 512TR with a tubi and its quite a lot louder than that, at low revs its a deep bass sound but as the revs rise it does turn into a scream, some of my friends say it sounds like an older F1 car under hard acceleration.
are you happy with the Larini?? or have you fitted it yet?

the guy I bought it from was a show enthusiast, and spent a fortune getting the car to show standards, it won the Ferrari UK concours in 2002 and best in class in 2001, the thing is when you get them so clean you feel the need to keep them that way and its hard work!!
I took pics of the exhaust because I am currently replacing a leaking cam cover gasket, I think I spent more time cleaning the oil off the underside of the car than doing the repair.

Did you buy the car from Kent High Performance Cars...? If so, I'm guessing it was the car formerly belonging to some Twins, surname "Hart".... And my dad Arthur may have sold it to you.....

No, Mike Wheeler of Rardley sourced the car for me, it belonged to a solicitor in south of UK.

Oh ok, thanks anyway. The car in my shop is also a KHPC car, which led me to that assumption.

Took it out today now fitted with stock 4 box system... it's actually nice to hear the induction louder than the exhaust. I think Bell system is a fraction too loud for me 'cos I love the carbies......

    Steve,

Yes- I have installed the Larini on my car. Here's the thread about it and more pictures:
    http://70.85.40.84/~ferrari/forum/showthread.php?t=41934

It's quieter than I thought it would be, but it sounds very nice, smooth and refined and it picks up volume in the upper rpm range. Absolutely beautiful welds/construction and polish work.

    They build a nice system.

Is the Bell system about the loudest out there ? I still have my hair on fire. BesiDES the (original) radio does not work. I want to hear the exhaust.

Is it the loudest system available ?

Thanks Steve !! Your system looks Kewl. I sent Bell an e-mail.

I've not seen any other single box systems for BB, and this one is a small box too, so I guess it would be the loudest.

I tested am Ansa sports system at 97db on the same day but on a different car, when I tested the Bell at 104 db (1m at 45 deg from tailpipe.)

Yur welcome Ralph. I dont know if it is the loudest but heads turn when i am driving it, i am used to loud exhausts though, my Pantera is so loud it sets off car alarms! Phil has tested the Bell as he says in this post and measured 104db, if you ever like to do track days that would rule the Bell out, at least in the UK anyway as most have a limit of 100db, I will chat to one of my computer whizkid friends and see about posting a soundclip sometime.

    Dear Steve:

Greetings. I just ordered (verbally, by e-mail) the exhaust from Bell. I am now awaiting instructions on the next step for delivery. It is estimated to take, approximately ten weeks to build. I hope to upset my neighbors and birds. (No not really). My garage is on a corner lot. It is not a problem. I do not know about the birds. Thanks for your information !!

    Cheers.
    Ralph

What does the Bell list for? Were they negotiable?

    Thanks

    1,300 Sterling.

I think that is very reasonable for a S/S exhaust. I did not negotiate on the price.

I was also curious and wrote to Bell about their system. Here are the pictures that Matt Bell sent me.

I would love to hear what it sounds like!
