OK, while I've got everyone out looking at their cars, thanks by the way. What style of steering wheel is in your car? I have seen the silver solid wheels, the long slotted wheels and the solid black wheels (I believe this wheel might be the same as the TR's wheel). I wonder if there is a specific wheel to each year?
All the respective models had different wheels, my BB has a a;; solid black spoke wheel with a very thick rim. Some BBis I have seen have a insert in the center where the horn button is that covers the screws that hold on the wheel.
To my knowledge, there were only two types of steering wheels installed by the factory on Boxers. A Momo wheel with silver or brushed aluminum spokes was used on all 365BBs and all 512BBs up unitl about 1980. From 1981 on the wheel was changed to a Nardi design with black spokes. The Testarossa steering wheel was a different design.
I think mine may be aftermarket ? I am not sure ? I think his wife purchased him a birthday gift ? It is a Momo (three spoke with slots) with the Nardi signature. I suppose it is not original ?
I sure hope Boxers aren't equipped with the stock TR steering wheel (although the TR one sure looks like what steveirl posted) -- a real C- IMO (sorry steveirl, et al.). The PN for the TR steering wheel is 119036 and is shown in this jpeg. If you go get (and post for us please) the steering wheel PNs from the Boxer family SPCs at FerrariUK you might be able to deduce something about # of possibles, variations by model/market (if any), etc.. Sometimes the illustrations can convey further information too so feel free to pursue .
My 1980 512 BB has the brushed aluminum wheel with the E Nardi signature in the north east spoke (picture attached). I believe it is original. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like the look of the wheel but I think it might have been used in the Mondial as well. Here's a pic of an '85 Mondial's steering wheel. Look familiar? Image Unavailable, Please Login
My 79 512BB has a shiny aluminum Momo wheel. I have no idea if it's original or not. It is certainly not a recent addition, in any event. Image Unavailable, Please Login
