Hi, Does anyone have any details as to what all the timing marks represent on the flywheel of my 512BBi? I was trying to check the Ign. timing only to find no marks anywhere near where expected, and then at least 4 or 5 timing marks distributed around the flywheel. This may be a stupid question...but No.1 cyl. is the front/passanger side of the engine?
It all seems prety 'oiley' around the clutch housing...any ideas...main crank seal?
    Thanks, Robert

    Robert,

Check the ftalk site under tech articles tuning the 512bb a novice perspective, good explanation on the marks with pics.

Their is a small cover on the bellhousing on the pass side you remove and will see a pointer and the timing marks PM1-6 TDC, AF10 =900 rpm AF32-3200 rpm and Af35-5000 rpm, these are for a BB unsure if they changed on the BBi

You will see the cylinder # cast on top of the block also.

thanks for the info...I'm also assuming that as I'm running an MSD idnition unit I may well be gettin gmutiple timing light flashes at tickover...that could be confusing the issue! Not sur ehow to get around that though.
