How do you explain the big difference in price valuation of Boxers between Ferrarimarkets letter, SCM and Hagerty? Hagerty has the BB365 Value to be almost the double of the BB512 CJS
Please ignore the FML values, I have never seen any issue where the values bore any resemblance to real prices. I have no explanation, doubt anybody else has. Who cares, anyway? You look at the cars for sale and determine what you are willing to pay or not. The 365BB is indeed much more valuable, although this depends on the market. In the UK, they do not command much of a premium and I have never been able to explain why that market is so different, particularly considering the rarity of RHD 365 Boxers. In general, people like the fact that the 365BB is about 3 times more rare than the other models, it is the first of the Boxers, it has a rawer character, many people prefer the original looks and styling (without chin spoiler and NACA duct, balloon tyres), the carburettor sound at full cry is much better than the other Boxers (a 512BB does not sound nearly as good and a 512BBi less than both - but not too many people have ever driven a 365BB AND a 512BB AND a 512BBi to compare first hand). All these things presumably combines to make the 365BB more desirable and thus more expensive. The other Boxers are great cars. Make no mistake. But personally, I would only own a 365BB. For others, it would be a 512BB or a BBi, there are perfectly valid reasons for that. But my own personal preference means that I fuel the price difference. I think a 365BB is worth the premium. BTW - there are lots of people on here with an opinion on 365BB's, who have never driven one. Let alone, driven one on the limit. Lots of blabla but few people have the credentials to say anything else than what they have read in a book. They are rare cars, and good ones are much rarer still. Good ones that are driven like Enzo intended are like hen's teeth. Onno
