Very distinctive, heck they're just wheels keep them if you like.

They are not for the track though.

I had a few wire wheel cars when coming around: MGBs, Healey 3000s, then E-types. Eventually got into Porsches in early 80's and one day looked at the 72 spoke wheel on my E-type next to the single forged Fuchs on my 911 and realized I was seeing the 'modern' vs 'classic' worlds wrapped in a tire.

So when the 'modern' Boxer emerged on the cover of R&T with the 5-stars, that was the image that stuck. Wire wheels on a modern car just look like they're trying too hard to be something they're not. I can accept them on an early 365, but just barely. My vote: Keep them as conversation pieces (I made a clock out of a chrome MGB wire) or they should 'go'.

Of course, all of these responses are personal taste. Except mine -- I'm right ; )

The car looks beautiful, and although I might not choose to put wires on a 512, I think it looks very nice. In your shoes, I might get another set of regular 512 wheels just for the heck of it, but the wires look very nice - I'd leave them.

To my eye, the combo doesn't work - great wheels, great car - poor combination. Old, rounded Ferraris look better with wires than the angular ones, in my opinion.

I'd lose the wire wheels also. Anything from the Daytona on looks wrong with them, IMO.

I love your car and love wire wheels but agree with Art that wires look best on older, more rounded models and don't quite fit the dart/arrow styling of the boxer.

I would lose them. Incredible looking car. But they belong on a Daytona

opinion 1.) wire would not be my choice on the Boxer, it's not an ascot wearing kinda car to me
opinion 2.) nice garage! At first I was trying to figure out how you got your cars in the house (not a bad idea)

Wire wheels are not as strong as the mags. I broke the spokes out of a new set of 9" Borranis when I tracked a Daytona once.
The Boxer has a heavier butt than the Daytona so I would be concerned.
Besides, wires are not period wheels for the Boxer and to my eye they detract from that car.

I am going to go against the current.

When I drove my Boxer, I pretended was in a 250LM, which mostly had wires. The wires look great on the Boxer, not at all practical, but aesthetically, they look great.

I would keep them for pleasure cruising, but then get some real alloys for performance driving. At the end of the day, all that matters is if you like them.

    The voice of reason.

They would be pretty handy when you want to find your car in an endless sea of other red Ferraris. :^O

Now that would be an experience, caddying for the big cheese. I love the tibetan monks, always try and hang with them when possible. Such clean, pure energy and usually a wonderful sense of humor too.

I found this quote from the Dalai Lama:

"He who drives a Boxer, is above other mankind, but he who drives a Boxer with wire wheels, is just way cool"

    Makes sense to me.
