Hi, I am having problems getting my 512BBi to start well when cold. I have checked all the cold start syatems and found no problems except the warm up regulator does not have the manifold vacuum connections as in the 400i injection manual (which seems to cover the BBi), or the 512BBi parts manual.
Both manuals show the pipe connection next to the electrical connector going to the manifold between throttle plate and engine. The pipe connection at the bottom of the warm up reg. going to the inlet system between filters and throttle plate.
Mine has no connection (on either side) to the outlet near the electrical connector...it's just got nothing on it, and a pipe connected to the bottom of the reg. going to the manifold between thottle and engine: this appears to be the wrong way round. Hope this makes sense!?
Can someone please let me know whats correct here?
Would this be the cause of my poor cold starting?
    Many thanks all.
    Robert

What year is your BBI ? There may be variations of regulator hookup from year-to-year.
Mine is an 82'. Each warm up regulator has an electrical connector, vac hose, and black polyamid fuel tubing w/banjo fittings to the fuel distributors.
You might want to check to ensure the cold start valve circuit is working properly. Start with the fuse/panel and progress back to the valves located on each of the intake plentums.
I have attached a pic of my engine with the plentums removed so you can see the two warm up regulators. Mine is currently under reassembly after a really intense detail.

Hi Dave, thanks for the info...thats one clean engine!
I have come to the conclusion that the vcuum connections to the boxer (mine is an '84) are the opposite way round to the 400i manual, consequently the mixture is enriched at idle and/or weakened at full throttle....boththe owners manual and the parts manual show it connected this way...which is approximately (!) the way mine is connected.
I am in the process of buying a fuel pressure guage and will check all the pressures out. All the cold start devices are working properly.
I was just wondering how other peoples boxers have their vacumm hoses connected to the WUR?
