I wonder just how much value threads like this have on the cars re-sale amount? I would think the amount of detail shown and the documentation of parts & time would have a significant impact on the price and the buyer considering the car. As always, fun to read these threads and the information they provide. Thanks for doing them.
I've always assumed this would provide significant value if the car was ever sold. I'm amazed at how so many cars move on ebay with 4-5 terrible pictures. Just sending a link to one of these threads to show exactly what has been done, step-by-step, seems like it would certainly increase the likelyhood of a sale, if not increase the price. That being said, this 348 is with me till I die, or the car dies - she's never going to be sold in any running condition. Erik
That would be my assessment as well. Traceability is key, regardless of the industry. In aerospace, like with these F-cars, if you don't have traceability back to the standards and requirements, then you aren't meeting them, even if the product is "good."
I agree. From what I have seen it helps sell the car but does not increase the value. If someone can see the car has been correctly sorted they really have nothing to negotiate you down with.
I guess that depends on the asking price..... IMHO you might be undervaluing what are doing. I think there is a price premium for the pictures and documentation you are providing. Even if the car is 1-2 years removed form your shop, as a buyer I would be far more inclined to pay a premium knowing what work was really done, complete with images & video, versus a list of things done 24 months ago and a PPI by some other independent shop. Considering your reputation for quality work, the Bradan stamp has value as well. Don't under estimate, or undervalue, what you have created son
It also depends on who is buying it. For me, it would help sell the car to me, but I would not pay more for it.
Perhaps. I personally would prefer a car without all major stuff done. I am a control freak and would want to control the repair process. Seeing images and details as presented here would help change my opinion and allow me to transfer funds from the repair column to the purchase price. But I see your point. Still think Bradan is doing a fantastic service for he owner with the effort he puts into these threads.
Plenty of shops around the country offer top notch service. Posting the photos has protected us, educated owners, and provided advertising. It's a win win for us to do and really just is something we enjoy. When a customer is educated it makes the service process simple. Most guy have been burned so many times it's hard for them to trust they are getting what they are paying for.
