Front cover bearings replaced with hill engineering and front main seal replaced. Notice the marks on the engine block from the prior bearing hammered in uneven. Stunning work. If my 550 ever needs anything major your shop is definitely on my list. 3,500 miles!?!? I’m hoping the owner is now enjoying some fun V12 miles!
So was this damage from the factory or do you suspect some ham-fisted mechanic was in there before? And why would this need to be done on a car with only 3,500 miles?
The car had 2 prior major services. The damage was done by previous shop, which lacked finesse and sense. The need for the service with only 3500 miles, is purely time based. Plus gaskets on case is 20 years old and started to develop a minor leak. Dan and the team are like forensic scientists, they look over the car, in places others don’t and discover areas that may require attention now or in a few years from now. As the owner of the car, I’m super satisfied and impressed with the attention to detail and mechanical expertise.(far superior than “shops” that you’d expect to be experts. Read into that as you wish) They are still working on the car and so far the progress is excellent. Before others chime in, yes, I need to drive it more I know.. I just need the gift of time. Dan- Those assembly marks are rarely exact on early V12s. How did the scribe marks on the back of the cams line up? Need a mirror to see those.

Dan- Thanks, I missed that. Shows the factory actually knew what they were doing. You knew what you were doing, too.
So, can a check be made by finding TDC on cylinder 1, then looking at the cam timing marks? Will a mirror fit in there with everything assembled? Thinking of doing this when changing plugs.
