Wow very clean work! Looks great

 

Many if not most high-performance cars have one Achilles’ heel or another. Most of non-Turbo M96 and M97 Porsche engines from 2000 to 2008 suffer from potential IMS bearing failure that didn’t get resolved until 2009 models. Mercedes had problem with the single raw timing chain in their 380 V8 engines of the early 80s. BMW M60/M62 engines seem to have problems with their timing chain guides. I’m sure there are others. During my recent service I asked for Hill Engineering bearings (PT 550) to be installed for timing belt tensioners and to replace the lower cam drive bearings (170787) with Hill Engineering bearings as well.

 

Dan- Scary gasoline leak, but at least it was a long way from the engine. Not a help if it drips on the exhaust, though.

It wasn't cheap, but all the work they did wasn't much more than what one shop quoted me for just the Major service, belts and fluids!!! I am betting their quality of work was higher. They have been very professional to work with.

 

Bradan has returned my 550 to me safe and sound. Unfortunately, I only got to drive it about 10ft putting in the garage with the rest of my summer toys for the winter. First test drive will have to wait until the spring rains wash the salt and sand off the roads.
