Is the rack leaking or just the hose, or is this just an overfill in the tank ? I had the same story, i changed the hose but it turned out to be an overfill The tank on the first gen 612 does not have a drain like the OTO, just a valve, if the tank is filled at the limit, oil will spill all over the place once the car runs hot I now run at the lower limit Looks like the leather got fried on an american bbq But at least this car was used for was it is supposed to do. Whats the mileage on it ? typical 456 color combo, fits well with the stick shift !! How did you find out about the failed exhaust hanger ? does it make noise when you drive ? or you just saw it ? I am asking this as I think there are the culprit in case of clicking sounds coming from the back
Not a fan of HRE 547s? I think that is what they are...in the bright polished finish. Is the design or the shiny you're not fond of, Taz? Design wise, they seem visually similar to the NF2. Chrome shiny, they look a bit American muscle car. I have a set for my 456 and like the design but also consider having them refinished in matte. Still haven't decided.
Eric- Not even close to NF2s, which were copies of the Enzo wheels. I had a set on my 575M and they also made 612 5x114.3 mm wheels, too. No, not fond of those wheels on the 612 and the offsets look off, too. I remember the set you have, and those look fine on a 456. Some wheels just do no look great to me on some Ferraris. Similar 5 star doubled design but the NF2s are outside rim contact instead of three piece inside contact of the 547s. Thanks for the pic reference, good sir. I do love the NF2s. I like the 547s on the 456, but they might be a bit too shiny. I waffle and vacillate. PS4s are now available in the sizes to fit the 18" HREs and I'm looking forward to the new setup over the A/Ss on 17" OEM wheels. Just need to decide soon on refinishing or stay shiny. Winter is threatening to end even here in NH! Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
Hoses are typical to leak but this one is leaking directly out of the steering rack boot which is also common. I like to fill them to the min mark because of the spill over, it can set the engine on fire if it gets on the exhaust. Typical the damage was done from the prior owner living in Florida, I remember doing a PPI on this car 6 years ago or so. Miles are in the 20s I think. Exhaust leaks and broken hangers are common on V12 cars so we just rock the exhaust and visually inspect all the bushings. Clicking sound would be a hanger or ball joints.
I have a set of stock HGTC (ball polished 3 piece) wheels that is available for a very reasonable price if owner wants originality... I am serious.
