    This '76 corvette came to us for a 'frame off' restoration. It's an interesting project as we are rebuilding our customer's wife's first car. It has strong sentimental value and the restoration has been a dream of theirs for years. We are excited to be a part of this build and it should be a fun experience. The first stage of the project was just the tear down of the original car. Then, a list of what can be refinished and what needs to be replaced is assembled. A donor car was purchased to source parts from if needed. We hope you enjoy watching its progess this winter.

    Is it weird for me to say that this may be my favorite thread on F-chat right now!!!


    I really have to give Kudos to the owners too. It says a lot about the people that this car meant so much to them that they were willing to properly restore it rather than just find a clean example.

    Keep it coming!

    Can I ask that you drop everything else in the shop and focus exclusively on this project. MY short attention span requires I see a finished product before I go insane! :D

    They are doing an amazing job on your GT4. But this is ALL ABOUT ME :D

    Ok, ok...Braden---I'll give you permission to work on the GT4 too ;) ...but not if it slows up the Vette restoration :D



    On a serious note, I have been amazed at some of these restoration jobs Braden has going.

    This particular one really strikes a chord with me. They are really bringing this car back from the dead.

    The game plan right now is to split up this project into micro jobs. Example chassis/suspension, Engine/trans, coolant/fuel, etc moving in our mechanical department. The body will be next in line after the GT4 followed by a Dino

    The owner actually did buy a donor car for this project. Right now we have to weigh the options and see if it's more cost affective to pull parts from the donor or restore the original parts.

    Are you sure you can handle rebuilding that Chevy 350?? :)
    I mean it might be tough to do...no overhead cams, no timing belts, no fuel injection.
    I bet your techs like a simplistic engine for a change.
    Too bad I dont live near you. I would come to your shop and work on the Vette for free.
    I love restoring American muscle cars. Great project

    Hahah. The only requirement for rebuilding this engine is a tetanus shot. It's nice to see something different for a change.

    The cost of the restoration job ended up being to high. The owner is looking for a recently restored car to swap parts from to keep the cost down. Either way this car will end up looking great.
